Dirtiest gym I’ve ever been in.

The gym room is small and packed with equipment. The place stinks of feet and is grimy and filthy.

The gym mats have dirt caked into the cracks and the equipment is old, worn out and in need of maintenance because the cables don’t run smoothly.

I know that retro is a thing right now, but this is the bad kind of retro.

The steam room wasn’t steamy; at best it was mildly humid. The whole place just smelled and looked dirty.

My husband and I stayed here the night before my father's funeral in the hope a spa hotel would be quiet and a decent hotel. We couldn't have been more wrong. The room, bar area and restaurant were all grubby. Service from the staff was poor, untrained, had no customer service or waiting skills. Food splatters on the wall in the restaurant and on the salt and pepper shaker on the table and our meals both in the bar and restaurant were truly the worst we have ever eaten in any restaurant. My husband had a beer that was off, his creme brulee was watery, everything was greasy and poorly cooked. We had a junior suite which was a huge disappointment, tired grubby decor, bath side was rotting away, room was freezing cold and took 3 hours to heat up, as long as you have the curtains open, of you close them the heat cant get into the room. Parking spaces are very small, expect to get out via your boot as you can hardly open your car door. Finally, it was incredibly loud and noisy. Not a spa experience if that's what you are coming for. We will never come back here again and would certainly tell people to go elsewhere, it is a truly awful hotel.

I treated someone super special for a spa day, which included a treatment (GroupOn?). All members of staff were so lovely and kind. The spa was so relaxing, and clean and the treatment was absolutely lovely!! The vegan burger was tasty too. Thank you all!

My wife and I stayed a night at this hotel on 28th December '24. I had excellent communication from the GM Nicola Ridgewell on the lead up to our and the staff throughout our stay were really friendly and helpful. Our meal at the restaurant was delicious and our room was perfect for a great night's sleep. We will return and recommend to others.

Purchased via Wowcher a spa experience for 2 which included 1 treatment each, lunch and a glass of prosecco. The staff, massage and lunch were lovely however some of the facilities let the experience down. The pool area was too small, not enough loungers/chairs to accommodate clients. They allowed children in at some stage even sectioning off part of the smallish pool, the noise was too much so we tried to escape to the only other room for clients waiting for your treatment. Again there was limited seating as people were waiting to be called for their treatments. When we asked where else we could sit, we were shown the bar area which was for hotel guests and visitors and it was here we had to sit in our dressing gowns! Although there was an apology, not the best experience especially being underdressed! Having now read reviews on both the hotel and spa, I will not be making a similar mistake in the future.

This was a 70th birthday treat for me and my 2 daughters. Everything was fine, pool and sauna etc but the issue was the sun loungers. All had towels or belongings on but were mostly unoccupied. We attempted to sit on some but were moved on by a lady who was saving one for her friend, apparently having a treatment ,who didn't appear for the entire hour I was swimming . We asked the receptionist who said no one was allowed to reserve loungers, a rule not advertised anywhere and clearly ignored. When we found 2 free chairs my daughter sat on one while I swam. The other one was quickly taken by someone who said, when my daughter told her that I was going to sit there when I got out of the pool "well you can't do that". We found it very stressful and at no point were able to sit together. This could be easily solved : there should be enough hooks for as many robes as guests admitted. Guests should have an identity tag pinned to robe loungers should only be available to those actually sitting on them, no reserving with towels etc. spa breaks are meant to be relaxing and enjoyable.

Spa facilities need updating. The showers weren't working in the spa area and the facilities in the changing area smelt as well. We weren't given the full package we purchased either. I was very disappointed in the visit.

A group of us were there for a spa weekend recently. Few of the bedrooms had no heating. Reported it to reception who on the third call sent someone up with a portable radiator. TV remote was not working, dining area was cold too! Spa treatment
was average
