Did a mini spa day. The facilities are clean and weren't over crowded. The treatment was very good and also very clean. Food was good and not over priced. Overall a very positive experience and will definitely be returning. If you have time have a walk to the lake a fantastic end to the day of relaxing

Nice facilities. My treatment done by Lauren was lovely and relaxing, although I wasn't a fan of the scalp massage. The food was delicious, only complaint was that workmen were drilling boards onto the walls two tables away from us. I understand there are currently renovations taking place but this should have been done when there was no one seated in that section of the restaurant. Overall a lovely experience.

Came here for a spa day for my friends birthday, we booked the package via spaseekers. The lad on reception was so chill, very polite but not the 100% enthusiasm you'd expect for a spa greeting. We got given our robes towels and slippers and paid our cash deposit. Our treatments were at 10am and the ladies were so lovely, very professional and did a great job. I had Lauren, my other friend had Sarah and I don't know the name of the other lady, but they were all great. We sat around the pool afterwards and used all facilities bar the gym. The gym is having some work done but there is signs up for this. The pool is nice it's not too deep, the jacuzzi was a nice hot bath but the bubbles were not working which was a shame. The sauna and steam room were also good. The pool is open to the hotel residents and those who sign up as members. They do allow children in the pool but only at certain times which is good. I think the timings are 8-10am and then maybe 3-5pm something like that. We stayed all day but as the kids started to arrive at 3:30pm we kind of didn't want to stay longer because we were there for a spa day and didn't want to be around children. I wish this was something that was disclosed to us. We had a cocktail and nachos included in our package and we got to pick the cocktail, but the service in the restaurant was slow and it took them a good 20 minutes to bring our nachos. This is a nice spa with good treatments. My only critiques are that there are not enough beds/chairs around the pool for everyone to relax on, and people leave their stuff on them to reserve which a sign says you're not allowed to do. Being aware of when children are allowed in would've been a nice warning as well. Overall we had a great day and would recommend people coming to this spa

I joined up for the gym and spa about a month ago and I believe that it's best in barnsley people that go here are friendly the staff are brilliant and it's a welcoming place to be. I have only rated 4 stars because sometimes there's too many people there and feel that the facilities could/would be better if they was a little bit bigger to accommodate but it's definitely a nice clean place and since I have joined I have felt the health benefits from doing so.

In reality this is a 3 star hotel, sheltering under 4 stars because of the spa. However I had no problem with my room with a very comfortable bed which was totally unexpected. The problems arose with the food. Every time we had fish it was overcooked and almost inedible. I was there for 5 days and the food just got worse towards the end with reheated roast potatoes which were very hard to cut through and one person was even offered Gravy to make the potatoes easier to cut. One person had no meal at all. I suspect that the food was delivered into the hotel because the numbers were always tight, but I cannot confirm this. There were some staff shortages but people just didn't seem to know what their roles were. We were a coach party of approx 45 people but it seemed that wedding guests got better service than we did. Externally a beautiful building but internally quite shabby, such a shame.

Stayed here Saturday night. Evening meal was OK but breakfast was cold. Rooms very clean but little tired. Staff were brilliant though overall 6 out of 10. And I forgot to mention cobwebs in dining room right above our heads all over the speaker. Not worth the money at all

Lovely place to stay, rooms are great, staff are friendly. The restaurant is ok didn't have the full menu and a few items late to the table so lost a star for that.
Breakfast is awesome.
The Spa is small but relaxing.

Overall Terrible . Stopped here for night after visiting family, and was looking forward to a nice meal and a chill out before returning home next day.. Lots of food not available on the menu , and what was left was overpriced average at best. I had a dry cajun chicken burger on a dry bap ,french fries and a tiny pot of watery coleslaw. Nothing was seasoned correctly and I think I must have had the last of the french fries out of the bag as they were stubby bits . Does no-one know how to make chips anymore? Anyway . That was £17.50 unless you wanted to top it off with other unremarkable bits to push its total cost over £ 20.00 . My other half had the lamb shank . Looked and tasted ok - but come on £25.00 ? . Absolutely no atmosphere in the dining room or bar area , couldn't wait to go to bed which was the best bit of the stay . Bed and room very comfortable except for the overgrown bush or whatever it was nearly invading our space when we opened the window ( room 120 btw) and the odd pictures on the wall. we paid an extra 14 squid for breakfast which was however better than our evening meal ! Wouldn't recommend unless you are at a wedding then it is what it is . Service from staff was pleasant - not knocking them but not worth the 100 odd pounds paid . Needs a drastic face-lift and a rethink if its worth catering for passing trade .
