We went for a celebration meal. The pie of the day was Chicken & Mushroom, the pastry was shortcrust and was delicious. The Vegetable Wellington was scrumptious and as for the double burger, it’s the best burger I’ve ever tasted, proper handmade patties and the sweetest bacon. Sadly I didn’t finish the burger, so took some of it home for the dog, who wolfed it down.
A cracking choice of real ales. As it’s a small pub, as good as the service was, it’s not the quickest, but due to the quality of the food, we didn’t mind waiting. The other downside was the parking, there was a poker night on, so it took some doing to get the car out. The locals were friendly so we didn’t have to wait long to get away.
We will be back.

Hubby, me and Hugo our dog. Just visited this wonderful traditional pub. Great service , fantastic accommodation for our dog. And the Sunday lunch was amazing, David had Pork Lion with amazing crackling and I had brisket of beef wow wow wow. Absolutely delicious! Sorry didn’t have a pudding as we were too full. Will try next time.

Wouldn't visit here again. We popped in for an evening meal and despite having a gluten free menu, we were told the dedicated fryer had been used to cook food containing gluten. As such, we couldn't eat. Unfortunately we were only told this after we'd ordered drinks, so we had to leave them and go find somewhere else. Staff didn't seem bothered, the tables were sticky and the place smelt of sick. We went to the Chetwyn down the road instead and had a fab meal.

I booked table for 1 given nice table very friendly staff. Children friendly lots of families.
I had roast turkey with Yorkshire pudding food well presented with good variety of fresh veg. This was the best Sunday roast I've ever had in a pub or restaurant first class.
I'm 65 so I've had lots of meals in pubs and restaurants.
I would highly recommend them and I will return.
