Keith and Christine are lovely friendly people. Loved the dogs as well. We had a great few days staying here. The place is spotlessly clean and the extra little touches of face cleansing pads and hair towel in the room was nice as was the complimentary bottles of water on the first night. The location is excellent as it is within easy walking distance to the beach and the Old Village which is delightful. It is so lovely to see that some places are still trusting in this day and age with all that is happening in the country. There is a small bar on the premises and we were told that if no one was around just help yourself and note down what you had and pay when you leave. Christine did the breakfasts in the morning and the food was good quality and tasty. Keith and Christine go out of their way to may you welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay on the Isle if Wight

Swiss Cottage is very clean, beds comfortable, and everything OK room wise. Nicely situated too.|I was booked room only. I phoned ahead to say I was arriving imminently, Christine opened the door and introduced herself, she obviously knew who I was because we had spoken on the phone prior.|I introduced my son-in-law who had dropped me off and was helping me with my suitcase. Christine did not speak to him at all. We were shown into the room and Christine said there is a case stand, I think it's in the wardrobe|She then showed me how the shower worked and then left the room. We thought she wasn't very welcoming.|I stayed from Saturday until Wednesday although I was booked for the whole week. I was disconcerted that I didn't see or hear anyone during that time.|I did see a man in main doorway once but if it was Keith he didn't say hello. I thought it was probably someone come to do a job.|There was never anyone about and certainly no quiz going on in the lounge as Keith said there was. I do agree with people who said about feeling unwelcome. Perhaps if you're room only you don't get to see the hosts. I was tiptoeing down the stairs in case I disturbed the equilibrium, I was so nervous in the end I asked my son-in-law to collect me early. By the way the key to the room door is very old Keith you might be able to use it easily but there is a knack to getting it to turn the lock, you can find it easy because you're used to it! Front door lock is a pain too. I left at 9.30 in the mornings and came back at 9.30pm so no guests in any lounge, and NO QUIZ on the Saturday evening.|As I said, can't fault accomodation but strange atmosphere. No happy smiley people here.

Stayed last year but forgot to leave a review - but was so good we went again this year! We stay as two couples in two rooms for the IOW Festival. It's only a 20 minute drive over and we use the very close beach in the mornings!
Hosts are lovely and accommodating, rooms spotless with every facility needed (including a mini-fridge) and beds very comfortable.
Breakfast is excellent with plenty of options and easy parking at the front.
Will be booking for next year soon!

My parents and I have just returned from a six day stay. There are some positives about this hotel. ||The breakfast choices were plentiful including; cereal, yoghurts and the option of any seven cooked items. Plus toast and tea or coffee, you certainly won't go hungry. ||The hotel is very clean and the proprietors clearly take pride in this.||Keith ( one of the proprietors) was very friendly and welcoming. He clearly enjoys chatting to people of all ages and from different places. || There are however, a few negatives, which need to be highlighted. The hotel is in need of modernisation, the decor is dated and quite tired. Each room has a 'useful' folder containing lots of information about the property and surrounding area, within this file is also a lot of 'rules' which guests need to adhere to. The tone of these 'rules' were verging on the dictatorial and were wholly inappropriate considering the age range of the guests ( over 60s and beyond) ||My final point relates to the fact that we were departing quite early on our final morning-around 8am. In all our past experiences of staying at B&B's, we have always been offered a breakfast before we leave. Not in this case!! As we were due to go before the allotted breakfast time, no food was offered. My parents are both over 80 and my mum is diabetic, I was utterly appalled that we werent even offered cereal and toast. This sums up the tone of our experience at The Swiss Cottage and we won't be returning.

I stayed with Kieth and Christine for a short stay at the end of June 2023. As I am from the US, this was my first ever experience in the UK, and I was extremely pleased throughout my visit. I had spent several months working in France, and was looking for a low key, relaxing beach stay. Upon my arrival, Kieth and Christine made sure to establish a personal connection with me, and provided me with many recommendations. A nice breakfast was provided every morning alongside some discussions about my days plans. At night, I relaxed in my clean, cozy room. If I do venture back to the Isle of Wight, I would most certainly consider staying with Kieth and Christine again!

Had a great & very comfortable stay with a lovely breakfast. Christine & Keith are very welcoming and organised, they have thought of everything their guests may need during their stay. Location is really good as only 10 minutes to the restaurants in pretty Old Shanklin High St and also same distance down to the beach.

This was our second stay with Keith and Christine at Swiss Cottage. We returned as we knew there would be a friendly welcome back, fantastic breakfast and a relaxing break. The ferry was booked by Keith in advance which was great. A home from home bed and breakfast, happy to guide you with the best restaurants and areas of interest. Highly recommended.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful hosts.
The extra little extras that are included are just great. Every little thought that goes into the rooms are just lovely. The rooms themselves are very clean and tidy, and have everything in them that you need. The entire hotel feels very homely, but in the most amazing way.
The hosts Christine and Keith are both just so welcoming and lovely. They do everything to help, and are amazing at getting back with any questions you may have. They also give good advice on where to eat out, and what locations are amazing to visit. They are just both such wonderful people who take so much pride into their hotel and it really shows.
The breakfast provided so much choice, and the portion sizes are great. They also understood allergies and how to deal with them, and as someone with 30+ allergies that was important. The food was always extra tasty though!
When I return to the Isle of Wight I'd definitely stay here again. I cant wait to return.
