I had a very nice stay at The Talbot Hotel in Stourbridge. The room was clean and comfortable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Itโ€™s a budget friendly hotel and very good value for money. Its location was convenient for Stourbridge town centre.
PS: There were tea and coffee making facilities. I had to ask for milk, but that was provided quickly and efficiently.

The Talbot has definitely improved since my last stay there, a couple of years ago. But that wouldnโ€™t be difficult!|New owners have taken over, and seem to be doing their best to make the place better.|The location is ideal, right on the High Street.|My room was small & basic, and seems to have been recently renovated. There were clean towels & toiletries provided, the TV remote worked, and the shower provided hot water.|There was free wi-fi.|All the staff I encountered were friendly, and provided good service.|My main issue with my stay was that I was in an outside room, off the car park. The door from the car park to these rooms was wedged open, and left open all night. |There were people smoking in the car park from an event that was going on. Potentially anyone from outside could have walked in and used the corridor where the rooms were.|Hopefully, in future, management will provide guests with a key to that door too and keep it locked.

I had high hopes for the Talbot Hotel, but my experience was nothing short of awful. The customer service was shockingly bad, staff were completely unhelpful. Any request seemed like a massive inconvenience to them.

To make matters worse, I paid for a family quadruple room, only to be given a smaller, less-equipped family TRIPLE room without any explanation. When I brought this up with staff, they showed very little interest in resolving the issue or making it right.

The overall standards of the hotel were disappointing, with a lack of attention to detail and no sense of care for the guests. For the price, I expected much better. I wonโ€™t be returning and would strongly advise others to steer clear.

Things were that bad me and my family upped and left 2 hours after checking in and still awaiting a refund

We stayed in a triple room 1st November, which I thought I had booked a family but hadn't. When we arrived, which was late after a 5-hour journey. We went to find our room as we walked down the corridor to a very strong smell of weed. As we got to our room the smell was unbearable. I took a very quick look around to open a window. The window was already open so I went to shut it but it would not shut as the windows are so old. I went downstairs to tell the reception staff to which they said, the management were coming but they didn't while I waited. The young man said he didn't know what he could do. Then he said someone had checked out early, so give him 10mins to clean a room. Which I said no as a room can't be cleaned that quick. By then I said I'll go back up to see my husband and young son while I waited for the manager. my son wanted a bath and bed, no chance he was getting in that bath though!. As we looked around the room was not clean, there was dirt all behind the sink, the bath was filthy, there was wallpaper hanging off the wall and the cobwebs were everywhere. The wifi code also didn't work. With the window not shutting properly and the blind that has a massive gap too.| I went down stairs to which a very young girl was on the desk and she hardly spoke and didn't have a clue what was happening. I said we are staying in the room as we were shattered and didn't want to mess around any longer the only thing that was clean was the beds. I made the point that I was disappointed with hotel and wouldn't be back. There was no apology she just shrugged her shoulders and said OK! |We went to bed after a really long drive, my son got in his bed to nearly rolled out with the floors being so uneven, he slept with me in the end. Not a great sleep. We could still smell weed in the morning. Not great with a child. We got up early to check out, with no one to see us just before 9am on check out. It's a shame as this could have been a place we would stay regularly as we have family now close by. |A good clean and tidy and it could have been a lovely room with its old features. |Poor customer service and very poor room.

Hotel it's self is nice but bedrooms are very basic, no drink facilities in the room, very basic of cleaning and AVOID room 203 it's right above the bar and reception and you can hear EVERY conversation, phones ringing even emails arriving! We know one of the customers wants to go to morrocco because it's hot that's how clear you can hear their conversations!!!|Husband went to reception twice in the night to ask them to quite down a little it sounded like a party In the bar and when he got down to reception there was only 3 people there one being the bar staff!! It was noisy and echoing around our room. Customers left at 1 am so we thought we would be able to get some sleep only for the staff to receive phone calls through the night so again heard the conversation

There are new owners and they are struggling. The rooms are very basic. No tea/coffee making facilities. TV did not work properly for entire stay. No ironing facilities. No toilet roll in room. Dried blood stains on duvet cover. Pillows a joke!! Toiletries basic. Communication issues. Bathroom freezing and one morning went to a friend's house for a shower. No ambience in the bar area. No food as kitchen out of action. I will never return to this hotel. It may well be ok in the future, I hope, but for now, a big fat no thanks.

My father recently stayed at the hotel (booked for 3 nights, only stayed for 1 and did not get the refund back for the 2 remaining nights). He also received a parking fine even though he registered his car plate at the reception. I called on his behalf to ask the hotel to cancel the parking fine. I spoke to Catherine who is the manager there, she reassured me that if I email her the fine letter and the invoice she will email the company to cancel the fine. 2 weeks go by, I haven't hear anything. I then went on to contest the fine myself and sent all the evidence to them (email correspondence with the hotel). I then, for the 4th time, tried to call the hotel and to get through to Catherine. She could not recall talking to me 2 weeks prior so I reminded her of the situation, and told her I also contested the fine. She then started raising her voice at me saying 'now you gonna lose the case! I told you to leave it with me!', btw she never told me not to contest it and if I do I'd lose the case (even though my dad was a guest at the hotel and registered his car). I told her I was worried because it's been 2 weeks and no communication from her, she then said 'you worry too much' I kindly asked her to lower her voice and try to understand my frustration- mid sentence she put the phone down on me, I tried calling back- phone engaged, they most likely blocked my number. I was absolutely shocked- not only they didn't solve the issue, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional without any desire to help. This interaction is not even worth 1 star. Absolutely terrible service!! Please avoid this place at all costs!

Went for lunch today, very disappointed, infact it was not good at all. We ordered two jacket potatoes one with tuna/mayo, one with beans/cheese, had to wait a while. They came in a dish nothing else, my friend's was not cooked properly, not much butter, did not look very appetising at all, very bland. The one with beans/cheese was ok but not much taste. On the menu it states with side salad garnish, no salad we had to ask for this which consisted of a couple bits of lettuce, the smallest slice of tomato and a piece of cucumber cut in half. Needless to say we will not be going here again, plus it was ยฃ8 for a glass of wine spritzer, no wonder there was nobody in. The only good thing was the waiter who was very polite and pleasant.
