Stayed for one night with my elderly mother and everyone was so kind. She has mobility problems and found the few stairs difficult but we were given the nearest room to top of stairs and it was very comfortable and roomy with ample space to move around. Everywhere was clean and tidy and beds were very comfortable. Incidentally upon initial booking I was told there was no lift installed and it was my choice to continue with the booking

Lovely stay over at The Tavern. Wonderful evening meal and tasty breakfast. Bedrooms very roomy with large shower areas. Just lacking a bathroom bin plus China mugs to keep tea hot to drink for 94yr old mother. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Nice meal here a couple of nights ago, waitress was lovely, but did appear to be the only person working that night, other than the chef. Felt sorry for her running around.

Food was nice enough, but felt it was a little over priced, however, would return.

did allow dogs which was a nice touch 🐕

Arrived and thought we would try a Sunday lunch, should have realised maybe is wasn't good as only 2 people there at 1.20 on a Sunday lunchtime. But we thought still try, ordered drinks, given menus, we asked what was the soup, and was told "we're still waiting" at 1.20pm So I said I will have whatever soup it was and 2 x roast lamb. Of course no soup arrived, so the 2 lambs arrived, had to ask for salt and pepper as none on the tables, and ask for mint sauce as it wasn't offered, the Yorkshire puddings were clearly out of a frozen packet, the cauliflower cheese, was luke warm at best. I wouldn't recommend, and such ashame as on a Sunday in the lakes restaurants are always full, so the fact only 2 people were there at 1.20 lunchtime really means one thing! Go to the restaurants that serve good food.

I hate writing bad reviews, but we live and learn £50 for 2 x roast dinners, no starters or puddings, just 2 soft drinks, although isn't that expensive in the current climate, I would say the meal was worth £9.95 at best, especially if using frozen products, the owners should try thier local competition and see what real home cooked food and service is about.

Such ashame, it should be sooooo much more!!

The best Sunday Lunch we have had in a long time, everything was cooked perfectly and great value. Recommend the sticky toffee pudding for dessert! Also great kids meals and play area.

My first visit. I hope it's the first of many. Went for lunch with Dad. Sam and Alex (her first day) were very welcoming and looked after us well. I did actually pop in to check it out yesterday and Erin was lovely then too when she showed me round. Fish pie for me and King Prawn pasta for Dad from the specials board. Both very tasty.

The Tavern is a beautiful old pub, with open stone work, fireplaces, cosy nooks, airy bar, cosy restaurant.
Friendly, helpful staff, delicious meals and breakfast.
Very comfortable beds, beautiful room and a stunning bathroom in room four!.
The room overlooks the A6, which is very busy, so bring ear plugs if you want to sleep before 11.00pm.
We would happily come here again!
