I recently hired the function room at Tawny Owl Pub for a birthday party, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience! From start to finish, the entire team was incredible. The staff were friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. The function room was perfect—spacious, well-decorated, and with all the amenities we needed to host a memorable celebration. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was just right for a fun and relaxed evening. I highly recommend the Tawny Owl Pub for any event—truly a fantastic venue with an amazing team. A five-star experience all around!

Good and bad points.
+ I went for Rock and Roll bingo night with friends and had a lovely time.
+ 8oz double cheeseburger with chips was excellent. Everyone else had good sized meals.
+ drinks were excellent.
+ staff were excellent and kept the night going smoothly in the busy bar area and keeping our tables tidy. Well done.👏
- Their loudspeakers were rubbish, with high pitches playing all night and no good sound / no bass during the music that plays for the bingo.
- Their loudspeakers kept making extremely loud interference noises when the bingo host was talking. Good luck if you end up sitting near the speaker. 😂
- Not sure how easy it is to get to. Couldn't see anything about buses on their contacts page. I telephoned for a 701 cab from close to Swindon town centre area and it was £11.50.
- I can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay over. I live in the town centre area.
+ I would still come back here. Its a good place.

A family event for Mother's Day. A table of 11, but despite pre-ordering the food, it was 45 minutes late after our table booked was for 2pm. Our Mum who is diabetic started to feel extremely unwell waiting for the late food. When it eventually arrived it was very disappointing. The beef was so tough as was the stuffing and the potatoes were hard - no trimmings as promised by the menu - basics like horseradish sauce with the beef or apple sauce with roast pork. Vegetables were sparse, mushy as overcooked and very unpleasant. The vegan chilli, was then a further 10/15 minute wait after the roasts and despite being advertised on the menu as having rice & nachos, they were only available with nachos or chips. We cancelled the puddings we'd ordered as so disappointed. A sorry when we complained, a half hearted apology, but no recompense. We paid in full, but a terrible meal for a special occasion and won't be returning. A Mother's Day meal we shall not be remembering. My Mum couldn't eat all her meal as mostly feeling ill having waited for the food for so long. Wouldn't recommend.
Celebrating Mother's Day meal is important to us given our dear Mum is 84 years, but sadly this wasn't value for money. Not even a discount offered for poor food and service. Will be complaining to Arkells too.

Nice new park and the pub is looking clean. The food let's it down horrifically. Sub standard burgers and a slab of a omelette with the chefs hair in as garnish. Wont be returning so much potential but needs work. Also serving beers in the wrong glass really gets my goat. Peroni in a Madri glass

I have been coming to the tawny owl for years great food the accommodation isn't to bad but recently the service has been absolutely disgusting earlier this evening I witnessed a young girl being treated with no respect by the staff. They screamed at her called her many horrific names. This young girl tried to seek comfort in the manger but the manger stood there and laughed at the girl it was cruel and hostile behavior the staff then pretty much shoved this poor girl and her friends out the pub I was sat very close and there was no reason for the staff and the manger to react this way I have never seen something so unfair and disgusting happen I hope that the young girl is okay

Appalling Mothers Day meal. Very long delay in service. Vegan option was chilli, rice and nachos but was told there was no rice. Still charged us full price.
Other members of our party had chewy meat and overcooked veg. You could have made the cauliflower into soup with a fork.
Manager only apologised and did not offer anything back. Paid full price despite things missing from selected meals.
You do not advertise Sunday roast (beef, pork, gammon) with no horseradish or apple sauce because they did not have any!
Did not stay for dessert for fear it would be worse than the main course.
A most disappointing experience. Under new management I believe. Think they may be under even newer management very soon.....
If I could leave fewer stars, I would.

Came here for a Mother’s Day meal. Food was pre-ordered as we were a large party of 11. Despite pre-ordering, food took well over 45 minutes to be brought out and we were only told as the roasts were being brought out that there was no rice available for the vegan meals that had been ordered. The vegan option then took another 5-10 minutes to come out after the other meals had been served. The food when it did arrive was not particularly hot, the meat was tough & chewy, potatoes were hard and veg extremely overcooked. Overall a very disappointing experience, wouldn’t recommend at all.

Not stayed at tawny, but rather pop in for breakfast every now and then after a dog walk at moulden. They're very friendly, allow dogs in and the food is great!
