The hotel was nicely decorated, in a great location, was very clean, had great control of room temperature, a spotless bathtub, efficient cleaning service, decent breakfast in a lovely setting. We didn’t use the spa. The hotel is near many restaurants and within walking distance of the usual university tours. Front desk staff were very kind and helpful.

We loved our one night stay at the Varsity. Staff were so helpful and friendly (special thanks to receptionist, katarzyna) |We were delighted with a very welcome upgrade to the senior fellows suite which was stunning, spacious and comfortable. Loved the deep bath, so luxurious. The views over Cambridge were wonderful. Would love to go back in better weather to enjoy the private terrace. |The bar was great and fab selection of cocktails and whiskies and gins. |We didn’t have any food at the hotel but the menu looked great. |We will definitely be back.

From your first experience with the staff at check-in you just knew this was going to be a great stop for a few days. We were warming greeted by staff who calmly looked after our luggage until we returned. Later our room had been assigned, and our luggage was ready and waiting. The Spa adjoining the hotel was free for spa, sauna, steam room and gym which was used and was terrific. The location is close to the Rover Cam which gives the Hotel a prominent position in the town and the views from the restaurant and terrace cannot be beaten. When we return this will be our only option. Just wonderful!!!

We had a most enjoyable stay at the Varsity Hotel. The hotel is located about a 5 - 10 minutes walk from the city centre at a lovely location next to the River Cam. The staff members were super friendly and helpful. Even though this was our first time in Cambridge, the staff upgraded our room which was roomy and, most importantly, clean. During our stay, we made use of the gym facilities at the Spa - taking a number of HIIT and yoga classes as well as using the sauna. We also had a delicious dinner at the hotel's River Bar Steakhouse & Grill during our stay. We would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for accommodation in Cambridge.

I love this hotel, it is not a faceless corporate entity, rather, it is small and welcoming, hidden on a side street but centrally located. In theory I ought to leave a poor review as we would rather keep this treasure to ourselves but that would be unfair to the wonderful staff who were warm and concerned for the details of our stay. The bedroom had great views of next door Magdalene College through a huge floor to ceiling window (we were given a room upgrade). It had the ingredients a good hotel room should have; very clean, a good comfy bed and nice Elemis bathroom miniatures. Our only complaint in retrospect, was that the bath robes were not big enough.||Breakfast was enjoyable, extensive continental selection and a choice from the menu. I had great scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and coffee. The staff were friendly and attentive.||To sum-up. An intimate hotel which executes the basics superbly well, which added together, equals a fabulous stay.

I visited The Varsity Hotel and Spa with my boyfriend and we both absolutely loved it! The biggest highlight for us was the service as everyone we spoke to was extremely helpful, friendly and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. It was also very clean and perfectly located for enjoying Cambridge.

Our room was very impressive and had a very stylish, yet luxury feel with incredible views. It was great that the TV had plenty of options like Netflix etc and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was also huge and the bathroom nice and light/airy.

We ate at The River Bar Steakhouse and the food was delicious - would definitely recommend the mussels, Sirloin and Rump Steaks and the macaroni cheese! We were looking out onto the river and it made for a great evening.

We also enjoyed the spa which was a real treat and had everything we needed to relax. We were extremely well looked after by the team here too.

We stayed for a couple of nights. Dual aspect room overlooking Magdalene College gardens was a great size and attractively decorated and furnished. The reception team were excellent - welcoming and helpful. Breakfast (full English for me) was good. You can drive to the front door and the car is then parked for you . Will def return

We had a wonderful stay at the Varsity. I booked the hotel because of its very central location and because it is one of the few hotels that offer baths. We were given the most lovely room with a contemporary four poster, almost wall to wall french windows and a huge bathroom with a stand alone bath. Everything was tasteful, comfortable and luxurious . The free spa was also an amazing experience . beautifully tiled with somewhat of the feel of a turkish hammam, the sunken hot tub faces the Cam river through a gorgeous semi circular window. |I would one hundred per cent recommend the Varsity as a great place to stay in Cambridge .
