Never been here before we were on a drive out and stopped and so glad we did made to feel so welcome by Annie and her team the food was beautiful hot fresh and came out quickly. The atmosphere was warm and we felt right at home even though we were both in our scruffs. I would highly recommend the burger and scampi very tasty. We will definitely return as so homely.

First visited a couple of months ago and now our go-to place. It's a lovely, spacious pub and restaurant (with accommodation). Excellent friendly service, with a special mention to Lana, Sim, Annie and Brandon. We're always made to feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and the food and drinks are great.

Over all very nicely set out clean and well maintained waiting staff extremely friendly and as helpful as they possibly could be bar staff also friendly food nice and hot cooked well and presented well definitely recommend . Only downside to the village country pub/hotel is the absolute rudeness of some of its dining customers towards staff these people serve with manors and politeness I witnessed customers speaking towards staff like they own them and were extremely rude /nasty /demanding who the hell do they think they are. If you plan on a visit at least have respect for the hardworking people there . Definitely recommend eating and drinking just be wary who your seated by

We decided to visit on the spur of the moment on Friday afternoon whilst out with friends. We were surprised to find the pub wasn't very busy, and it was easy to grab a table in a bright and airy ante room. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and we quickly decided to stay for a meal. We had scampi, fish and chips, and lasagne - classic pub fare, all cooked and served nicely. We had good sized portions of decent quality food and there was a good range of beers and soft drinks too.|We were astonished that the pub did not seem to get busy as many local pubs require a booking on Fridays. The quality and value of food was excellent so I would heartily recommend the pub. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

I visited the Vernon For my Sunday dinner as a treat along with my husband. We got told there was only two meat choices, so we picked the the lamb when it came out. I thought it was pancake day as my Yorkshire pudding was so flat. I could’ve used it as a frisbee. When I pointed this out to the waitress. She didn’t seem that bothered but she was nice. The vegetables was frozen and were very cold, they do not serve fresh veg. The meat was nice but not a lot of it. The potatoes were dry and not roasted my plate was cold and so was the food. I left still hungry I am not just disappointed. I am outraged that they can get away with serving food like that , I am personally fully qualified chef and I would never let something like that go out of my kitchen. I would personally sack that chef and get somebody who knows how to cook. I will never return. I don’t even want to give them one star out of five. That’s how bad it was.

Although we only called in for lunch on the way to Stratford on Avon it was a very good experience and would recommend it. The young lady behind the bar was very pleasant (nothing too much trouble) and service the was very good with plenty of car parking spaces.

From beginning to end of our overnight stay everything was exceptional. We ate, drank, slept and had breakfast at this fabulous little find. Receptionist around 3pm (on 20th March) extremely helpful and even showed us to our room (4). A “cosy” room but we loved its beautiful original features. The road can be noisy but never bothered us and certainly did not keep us awake. Lady on the bar around 3.30pm on 20th efficient and attentive. We ate from the Emerald menu (smaller plates) although you couldn’t tell. We had the pate x 2; steak and ale pie and fish and chips (made with Guinness batter I believe). Absolutely no complaints whatsoever …. apart from wanting to try dessert but just too full. A comfortable night sleep. The next morning we had breakfast and again no complaints whatsoever … sausages and bacon etc tasted lovely and very meaty. We met Sim the chef (who makes things from scratch - he should be very proud), Jenny and even the owner. Was great to hear how everything began at this Grade II listed building since 2009 and how they are very proud to be the birthplace of the iconic radio drama The Archers and displays relevant images on their walls. We highly recommend this hotel, pub / restaurant in whatever capacity you choose eg overnight, couple to few nights stay and explore the area. The surroundings are beautiful including the inside / outside bar area with ample parking. We did not want for anything. This find truly was a bargain for 2 people … especially considering you could pay more for a Premier Inn and Travelodge without all of the above. This will definitely be on our visit list should we travel to this area again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Went for Christmas lunch with the family. There were 13 of us. Service was incredibly slow. 2 and a half hours for a two course meal, the restaurant wasn't even busy. Absolutely no effort made to make it Christmassy. Food was also at best average with some dishes being very poor. One of us ordered Fish and Chips, a hard dish to get wrong and it just wasn't nice.
