I arrived at York and took a steady walk to the Waggon and Horses, I could easily have got a bus or an Uber but it was a pleasant walk and got to see some of the sights! |The location is just outside the city walls south of the city with easy access to everything York has to offer ! ||On arrival at the Waggon I was greeted friendly and warm and was delighted to see a good range of well kept real ales. ||My room was spotless clean nice and warm and had everything I needed. ||The Breakfast next morning was beautiful quality ingredients cooked perfectly!! ||This is now in my favourites list and I will return !

An absolutely brilliant value for money place to stay for a trip to York. Easy to get to with a little free car park at the back of the pub. Quick and easy check in. Comfortable, spacious room. 10 minute walk to the centre with lots of little shops around. Only slight niggle was the noise from outside but that was my fault because I forgot my loop earplugs whilst my missus had hers and slept like a log in the comfy bed. 5 stars.

A lovely little pub with accommodation. Rooms compact but spotlessly clean and adequate. Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice of options. Full English made with quality ingredients and well presented. |Staff very attentive and friendly. |I would definitely recommend and stay again|Great location for city centre and barbican.

Don't be put off by the exterior. The Waggon and Horses is right on the main road and has a bus stop outside with student accommodation opposite. Trying to find the entrance at the rear of the pub was a little difficult, and the car park only has room for a couple of vehicles.||However once inside the place it is charming, very welcoming staff, wooden panelled walls, intimate bar rooms, no gambling machines or intrusive sports TVs, and great beer, well kept||We chose the bedroom with the extra large double bed, which was an under statement. We needed a map to find each other on it! The mattress was on the firm side which I prefer. |The room itself was very large, with two easy chairs, a wardrobe and table The obligatory large TV, adequate supply of tea and coffee. The only downside was the room overlooked the main road and was directly over the bus stop. You also have to remember that York is a university town and students do like to celebrate the coming of the weekend ( we were staying on a Friday).||Breakfast served in one of the small bars. Neatly laid out with good supply of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. Good breakfast menu with Full Yorkshire/ Various eggs on toast/Pancakes and other items to tempt the appetite.|We asked whether they had veggie sausages which I opted for, but sadly it was assumed that my wife also wanted the meat free option. So her plate was delivered with veggie sausages AND meat bacon. Not a big complaint but did spoil her enjoyment of the breakfast as she was looking forward to the real Yorkshire sausages.||However, overall a lovely place to stay within easy walking distance of York centre. Would definitely stay again.

Bedroom small but comfortable. Excellent location for wandering round York. Close to numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Breakfast superb. Would definitely hope to stay here again

We had a lovely stay here although shorter than planned. It is a very comfortable room and the beds were comfy. The breakfast was excellent and the owners very pleasant. The added bonus is the parking which near the city centre is great. Very comfortable

A gem of a pub with excellent accommodation
A very very short walk into the City centre but with the advantage of parking for guests.
Staff are superb and a tasty choice of fresh food and drinks
Worthy of 10/10 in all categories
