Lots of potential…

Sadly, our experience at the Waterfront could have been better.

Upon arrival we tried to use the automatic check-in, went through the whole process only to be told at the very last step to talk to reception. Not a big deal. In reception they gave us our keys, but no information: “where’s breakfast? What times? Where’s the gym? How do we access the spa?”

We paid extra for a bigger room, which was spacious and nicely decorated. However… The biggest issue for us was the beds. Our mattresses were thin and worn out, same with the pillows. The bedsheets and pillow cases were damaged and stained.

We couldn’t use the spa because it was fully booked - we had mistakenly assumed that the access was “guaranteed for guests” and that one only had to book specific treatments. I was rudely told “you should have booked before coming.”

Dinner was nice although pricey for the area and establishment.

Shout out to the staff in the restaurant who was absolutely lovely and efficient. Well ran area.

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was nicely decorated, though a bit on the small side. However, it was clean and cozy, making it a comfortable space to unwind after a day out.||||The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive atmosphere of the stay. As for breakfast, it was decent but not particularly memorable, though the stunning view across the lake was a plus. ||||In summary, a solid choice if you’re looking for a comfortable stay with friendly service and beautiful views, though the room size and breakfast could have been a little more impressive.

A pleasant, inexpensive overnight stay in a comfy room with good facilities- iron, work area, comfy bed, etc but no fridge, surprisingly. The staff were charming, the location is quiet and remote, the brasserie is in house, parking is free. It can get hot in the room but there was a fan and the windows both open. There was a handy make up area .

Feel so relaxed and at home here but they have the right balance of being welcoming and professional. As previously mentioned the food they offer is good: breakfast lunch and dinner but nothing in between. Might be nice to have cake and muffins available throughout the day or maybe afternoon tea but we love it here and visit often

Scored a 4 star because we were there for a gold weekend and the course was closed both days. The service was great, amazing staff and a good driving range. The food and rooms were great too.

Lots of parking, nice room about 2 miles from reception. Bar man very good but wine markup is 300%, a New Zealand Sauvignon for £41 which is a £10 bottle. Restaurant was adequate and the staff were uninspiring. I'd stay again and give the restaurant a miss

Good points:

1. Excellent bacon rolls after arrival

2. Golf course is really good to play on. I remember it being much harder the first time about 12 years ago.

3. Bar and dinner service excellent. Maria was very good at dinner and really looked after us well.

Not so good points:

1. Spa closes at 7 which seems quite early. Especially after a round of golf.

2. Room was very hot and uncomfortable. Couldn't leave the window open as it was facing the outside storage area.

3. There was a lot of noise after midnight with doors banging and heavy stomping in rooms above. Had to complain but don't seem like anything was done as it still kept going on most of the night. Didn't sleep at all but I'm a light sleeper.

Found the doors almost slam shut even when trying to close softly. Recommend hotel invests in soft closing doors.

Overall it was a good experience and will go again even if I do end up staying up all night.
