We have just returned from a fantastic stay at The Wensleydale Hotel. Everything was wonderful, from the warm welcome we received upon arrival, to the lovely room and the amazing food.||This really is a very special place, located in the pretty market town of Middleham in the Yorkshire Dales. We stayed with our dog who was also made to feel very welcome, and there are lots of walks straight from the hotel (and helpfully a side entrance you can access to pop in and out with your dog as required).||The food at the hotel (and in the Tack Room which is the restaurant attached to the hotel) was outstanding. We really didn’t expect it to be as wonderful as it was (no offence intended!) - perfectly executed classic cooking, and the tarte tatin the best I’ve ever tasted. Breakfast the following morning was again perfectly cooked, such attention to detail and all just beautiful. I haven’t eaten food so perfectly cooked and seasoned in quite some time.||I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough, and Monty, as front of house, was the perfect host. Indeed, all the staff we met were equally as friendly and welcoming.||If you want to stay somewhere really special, this is the place for you. We honestly didn’t expect such great things and were very pleasantly surprised. We will certainly return.

Booked a family dinner here, which included 2 people with Allium Intolerance - the hosts were kind enough to plan and print a whole menu of choices, which was wonderful! Even better was the gorgeous food, relaxed atmosphere and warm service. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and hope to visit again when in the area.

Had a great stay at The Wensleydale Hotel. Beautifully decorated room overlooking the square, very tastefully furnished. The Valentine dinner was a real treat. We especially enjoyed the home reared pork loin and the Tarte Tatin was the best tasting in a long time. The welcome is warm and hospitality very genuine. Can’t fault. The Calvados was great too!

We are a family of six staying staying in Middleham for a week. On Sunday my daughter & husband called for lunch & were bowled over by the food on offer & on telling us we decided to book for five to celebrate two family birthdays on the Wednesday. The food was exceptional especially the fish stew starter course, we also very much enjoyed both the Cabaletta red wine & the Sauvignon Blanc. Also I must also pay credit to the young man who attended to us who I believe is your son. You must be very proud of him as he was the epitome of what good service is all about. Thank you Fiona for a lovely evening

First ever visit to the hotel,we found the hotel while looking for somewhere to eat close to where we was staying on our weekend away.
The staff was very friendly,caring and couldn't do enough to help.
The food very well presented and the flavours absolutely amazing.
I would highly recommend this place if anyone is around

Stayed here Saturday 17th May 2025 for one night. Lovely hotel with a nice clean room. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and very friendly staff. Highly recommend, a great little village to visit, not too far from Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales.

This place is a little pricier than most places I would eat, but I can't complain. We showed up without a reservation at two o clock on Mothering Sunday, and they happily served us. We had to eat in the bar because we had our dog with us, and he was given water and treats.||Lunch was delicious, and while I didn't enjoy my dessert had much, I did order something I'd never tried before, so I only have myself to blame for that one.

This is our second stay with this hotel & we’ve eaten here on many occasions. The food & service are exceptional. The hotel is in a perfect location too. I highly recommend this place. We love it!
