*Thai Cooking and Knife Skills*
I was lucky enough to be gifted a morning with West Country Cook School and after some easy communications with chef Ty, we devised a Thai menu with added knife skills.
The week prior, Ty called as I have a food allergy. All allergens were checked and double checked which was amazing.
On the day Ty arrived on time with EVERYTHING we would need for the morning. He was very well prepared and so easy to chat to and learn from. We started with the knife skills and how to use them. I quickly understood the need for a great chopping board! Ty gave me a number of recommendations all at varying price points which was reassuring.
We then started cooking and whilst I could not match his years of experience, I did start to feel pretty confident with my chopping skills!
Ty was so thorough, answered loads of questions all so patiently and showed me how easy it was to put together a delicious meal. He took away the fear of trying new things and really instilled that the key is the planning and prep.
All the ingredients were fresh and sourced from the local Asian supermarket which Ty was able to tell me about with clear passion.
The proof is in the eating and I found all the food amazing! The family did too. They loved the spring rolls especially!
Ty was just fabulous and the whole experience easy and friendly.
I’d highly recommend taking one of WCCS’s courses to anyone who needs to get out of their cooking rut. I’ve since cooked the menu solo with the same success as on the day, so definitely a course that pays forward.

With a small group of ladies I spent a great day with Tyrone at Dudwell cookery school. The location was amazing for starters, however cooking experience I couldn’t rate more highly. Tyrone deserves great acclaim for his professionalism. Not only was he a great chef, but he was great fun too. Giving us all lots of instruction, hints, tips and plenty of opportunity to prepare and cook an amazing Italian meal. I am keen to try his other culinary sessions now and will definitely be recommending him to my friends and family.

What a wonderful setting to learn new cookery skills and recipes. Carrie and Tyrone made us very welcome and the organisation was throughout was impeccable. Starting with a coffee and chat about the day ahead, in a comfortable lounge set us up for the day. Tyrone introduced what seemed like a never ending series of Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes throughout the day. I found his teaching style was very effective; tells you what to do, demonstrates it and then is on hand to support you doing it. I learned new recipes, where to buy the Asian groceries and professional culinary equipment. Eating the food we had cooked for lunch, with a good wine was very enjoyable, leaving me feeling like an afternoon nap, but no chance as there was more cooking to be done!
A really enjoyable, informative day with great tuition and support from Tyrone and Carrie, I look forward to the next one.

I had amazing day at the West Country Middle Eastern Cookery Day ! The venue was stunning, and the kitchen was well designed and equipped . Tyrone was a great chef very patient clear and helpful and there was a good balance between demonstrating and leaving us to cook ourselves . There was lots of food for lunch and even more to take home , eating what we'd prepared in the morning in the beautiful conservatory was a nice touch ... there was also Lebanese wine !
A great day ! Highly recommend it even if you're not a cook or if you're by yourself give it an go ... everyone was so friendly!

I would give Tyrone a Michelin catering star! The lamb, the rosemary potatoes and broccoli stems were perfect. The pudding (chocolate cheese cake) was heavenly. All our guests were in awe! We considered ourselves very lucky to have discovered Tyrone and we will definitely ask him for our next event again.

To celebrate my mother's 100th birthday, we asked Ty and his team at the West Country Cook, to design a lunch menu, to take over our kitchen and to provide service. Ty and the team were superb, incredibly professional, and really easy to work with. The food was amazing, a selection of Mediterranean dishes, which were cooked with fresh food from local suppliers in our kitchen, the timings were absolutely perfect and the service was excellent welcoming our guests with drinks and keeping them topped up. In addition he recommended a local wine merchant in Wells, 'The Grape and the Good', who selected wine pairings which were also excellent. All round it was a fabulous day the food, wine and service were excellent and all our guests had a wonderful time with thank you letters and text, coming in during the days following. We would certainly recommend and if the opportunity comes up again, engage the West Country Cook. Thank you Ty & Carrie! A very personal 5 * service! Best Wishes for your New Venture!

What a joy it was to have Ty round to share his expertise with me. Together, we made the most delicious pasta dish from scratch and along with it some more incredible ideas. What can be more valuable than learning a new skill? Nothing was too much to ask of this talented chef. Would definitely book into a cookery class or perhaps invite friends over for a day to cook with our very own private chef! Ooh, this would make a great a Christmas present!

Fantastic Asian cookery course. Really well delivered, loads of new knowledge gained and lots of delicious new recipes to practice. Totally relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a beautiful setting. Will definitely be back, thank you.
