The Wheatsheaf is a period designed establishment and very authentic. Food and drinks are very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room (4) was interesting and well decorated in keeping with the style of the pub. It was compact but enough space. The bathroom was good. Access is via two flights of stairs so not for people with mobility issues, not an issue for us.

Beautiful place to stay. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was unexpectedly brilliant - 3 breakfasts in a row were consistently well cooked. I also recommend the Main Menu too. I definitely and highly recommend this place for both food, accommodation and location

Delicious food, lovely home-made meals with great portion sizes. The pies were particularly good. Excellent service from Callum, Elicia and Noah - all quick and very friendly. Not cheap but was very worth the price for us, all round great dinner.

We visited for lunch without a reservation. The menu was good and the food was fabulous. Very helpful friendly staff, who were also knowledgeable about the beer on offer. We had 5 very different, but wonderfully enjoyable meals prior to an event. By complete coincidence, it turned out we were back a couple of hours later as the event was being catered for in the same pub. They turned out a lovely spread for what must have been 50 people and we were all well looked after.

Booked at the wheatsheaf for their Sunday Roast as the reviews looked great. Having not eaten throughout the day and travelled 2 hours to taste this supposedly great meal. when we arrived we got seated straight away and handed the menus.
NO sunday dinners left? Now it wasn't busy when we arrived but we assumed must of been busy before we arrived, but id like to think a common courtesy call to make us aware would of been a little less disappointing rather than being sat down to find out off the menu, even when booking in the waitress did not make us aware.
Apart from pork there was no meat available at all and no sundries fir their Sunday roasts.
We asked for a simple starter of cheesy garlic bread...... waitress returned and apologised that they had no bread to make it?! She then advised that they could still make it but on a slightly different dough mixture.... fine let's go with that...... then returned AGAIN to explain they didnt even have that dough mixture?! So we both opted out of starters.
I ordered a burger and chips, and the wife ordered a cheese and onion pie....
The burger was edible but the chips were very anaemic and bland.
The wife's pie pastry was nice but the inside was just a stodgy mess, yet again chips very anaemic..... top it off no gravy?
Waitresses very miserable, not very welcoming
Very disappointing

Lunch review - High price which is ok but you’d expect good service which we didn’t really get. A long time waiting to get served and only one person seemed in charge of taking food orders, no good on a busy Sunday, and they’d lost my phone booking for a table which I made the week before. Food was good, but my dessert portion was absolutely tiny and still cost £8-9, we just wanted to pay and leave at the end .
