This is an excellent well-run friendly country pub. It proves the perfect base for a local wedding. The rooms are very clean, comfortable beds and fluffy towels. Excellent cooked breakfast nicely presented. We also had lunch in the restaurant on Sunday. Very busy so clearly popular and nice menu. |The staff were unfailingly helpful and polite with a great friendly attitude. |Highly recommended.

We were looking for a pub which was open on a bank holiday and found the White Horse at Compton Bassett. I made a booking just in case, which was extremely easy and made sure the 2 of us had a table. We arrived, and i managed to get the last parking slot.
The Pub appears to have numerous other facilities, a banquet hall, a nice garden with seating and tables, and of course, it does rooms as well.
We were seated in a nice position and ordered drinks. We had asparagus and white bait. The white bait and squid were cooked just how i like them, so very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.
Mains were pie of the day (lamb) and the white horse burger.
The pie was so crammed with meat in a short crust pastry it was amazing.
I could have done with just a little more gravy.
A wonderful meal and i will definitely be telling friends n family.

Rooms were warm clean and comfortable and had character.
The service was exceptional, shown to our rooms.
The restaurant, I had the soup and bread of which I have never tasted anything so good.
My son had a starter lamb croquettes and main meal, steak which he stated was better than most steaks in Australia and anywhere we've had since being in Ireland and the UK.
If we could have eaten more we would have.

Lovely quiet village, close to Avebury and on our way done west.

Highly recommend this as a stop.

We stayed two nights at The White Horse Inn in Compton Bassett and absolutely loved it. We had the family suite, which was perfect for our family of three—spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The beds were especially cozy, and the peaceful countryside surroundings made it a truly restful stay.||In hindsight, we wish we had made this our home base for the entire week. The location is ideal for exploring the area, and the inn itself feels like a home away from home. We’ve been in the UK for 11 days, and our family unanimously agreed this was one of our top two accommodations—and hands down our favorite breakfast. I’ve mostly stayed in places with four-star reviews, and this one definitely stands out.||The staff were all warm and welcoming, but we want to give a special shoutout to the manager, Ash. He was amazing—friendly, efficient, and full of helpful recommendations that enhanced our visit.||We highly recommend The White Horse Inn and hope to return for a longer stay next time!

Lovely little country pub to visit. We had just done a 10-mile walk, so we wanted some liquid refreshments for our small party of people. We were made to feel very welcome, including the little dog we had with us, and served very promptly. We will definitely be making another visit soon when we walk the route again.

Great pub, really nice food.

If I'm hyper critical, asked where to sit "anywhere", then asked to move tables as we were 2 people sat at a 4 top. Which I understand, but on a Tuesday night, when there was only one other couple eating... Come on, just let me sit where I pick.

Food, excellent, seafood starter, amazing, and one of the best burgers I've had in a while, highly recommend.

We visited for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Family group of 5. |It far exceeded my expectations, we expected good pub food but it was so much more. All 5 of us loved the food and the service and environment was also excellent. We are looking forward to returning soon!

Came here for a works dinner at Christmas and came back again today for a spring dinner! Service is brilliant (thanks Ella!) and the food is fantastic!!! Lovely atmosphere in the pub and colleagues stayed in the accommodation. No complaints!! Would highly recommend a visit!
