We wanted somewhere to stay for three nights in a good central location in Devon - and we found it in the White House. Our room was beautifully decorated with good quality bed linen and we had a splendid en-suite shower room. The residents lounge, with games, books, maps and TV would be a real bonus for families. Breakfast was of a very high standard and our hosts (Peter and Susan) could not have been more helpful. They knew the area very well and had lots of recommendations for visits, trips out and walks. The 'Drakes Trail' is just over the road so you can find lovely walks without taking the car. In the evening we ate at the Whitchurch Inn about 2 miles away where we had very good value pub food. There are lots of National Trust properties, gardens, walks, beaches etc close by. The only downside we found was that the road outside was very busy - but we would still say If you want a B&B in Devon - this is the one!

We stopped at the White house for one night on our way to Cornwall with my girlfriend's parents. We were pleased with our choice as this was an easy to find, comfortable and clean place. We had reserved the Walkham and Tavy rooms but were given the Walkham and Tamar instead, which was a bit dissapointing as we were not informed and the room was not as nice as the one that was confirmed to us (we were mainly attracted to the large bath rather than the old fashion Tamar room). The Walkham has no ensuite though it has sole use of the adjoining wet room which was spotless and had a great shower. ||The main problem we found was that the B&B is right ON the main road, which makes it easy to access, but also fairly noisy. Even if there was no much traffic at night you can hear every vehicle as it pass directly under your window. ||Breakfast was very nice and the hosts even accommodated our gluten and lactose free requirements which was very kind.

The room I stayed in was large and airy and although overlooking the road I didn't find the noise intrusive. Very comfortable bed and very clean. The breakfast was freshly cooked, very tasty and plenty of it. I normally prefer budget hotels to B&B's because you know what you will get as some B&B's have nasty surprises, the only surprise here was the cost which was ludicrously cheap for everything I had. Try it, use it as a 'base' for exploring Dartmoor, you won't be disappointed.

Spent one night at the White House at end of August, the welcome was warm and friendly, the room we booked was Walkham, it was spotless with a very comfy bed. When I booked I thought it was en suite it was not but as we had that floor to ourselves it was not a problem. The wet room was very spacious and again spotless. Mr & Mrs Harlow were very helpful in recommending restaurants and helped with directions for our onward journey.||Breakfast was cooked to perfection. We had tea a coffee facilities in our room, the only thing missing was a couple of biscuits which would have been very welcome after a long journey. The White House is very reasonably priced and we would highly recommend it

We stayed for one night on Good Friday 2013 as a group of 5, booking the family suite for a family of four and another double for our friend. A fantastic welcome by the hosts and rooms were luxurious and spotless. The enormous bath in the family ensuite was amazing. The breakfast was delicious with soya milk provided for me as i had told them in advance that im dairy free. Our nine year old daughter declared breakfast to be 10 out of 10! Thoroughly recommend the White House. We will certainly be going back.

The White House B and B certainly exceeded our expectations. It's in a very nicely refurbished old building that used to be a pub, our first reaction on seeing the bedroom and en suite bathroom -Wow. Both very large and immaculate, the equally large bed was wonderfully comfortable too. Downstairs there is a breakfast room and a lounge for visitors. While eating the scrumptious breakfast we could see the large red Aga stove through the kitchen doorway.||Ideal as a base for exploring the area, there's plenty of parking space, and it's easy to find. And if you want to stay inside and read for the day, it's large enough to not feel crowded. We found our hosts pleasant and very helpful.||Try "The Drake Manor Inn" for dinner, it's in a nearby village Buckland Monachorum -great food and atmosphere. You need to make reservations though.

Tucked away on a bend in the road makes it easy to miss when arriving and the road bend can make driving out the car park tricky. The cottage is beautiful, and enriched with character beams and wonkiness that makes it a real countryside escape and a pleasure to stay in. The hosts were warm and chatty, not too visible, but available if needed. Embellished with original art works from the hosts, and offering a substantial breakfast that went on for as long as we liked, I would stay again with no hesitation and recommend this out of the way gem to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

We booked this B&B at the last minute and weren't disappointed. Our hosts were very welcoming and the room was perfect. Breakfast was a particular highlight - a great start to the day! Ideally situated for exploring Dartmoor and the surrounding area.
