Brill breakfast, lovely fresh food, nice and hot and tasty. Environment was clean asa whistle and modern in the breakfast part with a truly old world feel in the pub (very low ceilings in that bit)

We were served by Freya today who looked after everyone there quickly without it seeming like she was rushing. Really good customer skills and made us feel very welcome and valued thank you.

My wife had the scrambled eggs with salmon and I opted for the smashed avocado with extra black pudding and bacon. Whole thing was very reasonable and very well cooked. Service was swift and displayed very well.

Lovely old hotel steeped in history. Couple of areas could do with sprucing up and more welcoming, like the rear entrance from.the car park and perhaps more lighting with these dark nights. |Our stay was lovely. Nice room very clean and we asked for fresh milk and that was ni problem. Very friendly girl on check in. Nice meal in.the bar area and lovely breakfast next morning, couldn't fault it fir the money paid. Staff were all very pleasant and overall thev place was clean . Would recommend

Second time visiting the white lion, first visited last weekend 1/1/2025 and had a really good meal with great service and friendly staff. So decided to bring family members, sat in the dining area which was warm clean and tidy with nice decor.again met with friendly staff and prompt service again. Super pub would definitely recommend to anyone. 👏👏👏

What can I say, I will keep this short. Trouble with the toilets blocked up and electric dryer not working. Plates cold as was the meal. Very mediocre, soup first tiny bowl,should have had warmed bread, none came.Waited 1 1/2 hours for first course. Waited another 1 and a half hours for 2 course as said plates had not been warmed, meal cold. Worst Christmas dinner I,had ever experienced. This cost by the way, £86.95p each for four of us. So did very well out of us , as we could wait no longer for our chocolate torte, we were there in all three hours from 3.15 pm and had two courses. We decided to walk out. So missed sweet, a coffee and petit fours, |On entering the restaurant, as I said went to the toilet, on return I Saw my 85 year old sister, husband 83 years and myself had been seated at a high table and chairs, Wetherspoons could have done better.I hit the roof to be told I should have chosen where to sit as it was on the menu form,Oh no it wasnt it said if you have any DIETARY requirements to let them know. Never been treated so shabbily, a complete rip off, I have a very bad back and could not have sat there for the next THREE hours. As, also my sister was in pain.|Steer clear of this hotel at all costs. Linda

Went for a lovely lunchtime meal over the Christmas period. The food and drinks are outstanding and also reasonably priced. My big complaint is that it took over 2 1/2 hours to serve a 2 course meal. I could understand that time if the restaurant was very busy, but there were upto 10 people eating during the time we were sat down, and three waitresses.

We came as a family for Christmas dinner 2024. First time to go out on Christmas Day as we normally do this at home. However to take the pressure off we decided to go out this year. We emailed the white lion and liked the fact they were the only place that did dairy free options for our daughter. Starters arrived and I can’t complain about the soup as it was lovely. However my husband and my dad had the ham hock which came out more like a scrambled egg concoction. Moving on to the mains. The turkey dinner was nice however it was cold. My father in law had to ask for his to be heated up. My self and my husband had venison. I was really excited for this however it had no sauce with it and was quite a dry meal. Pudding was small. And my husband could not finish his. He said it was just too sweet. Bearing in mind ge has the biggest sweet tooth of the family. ||The place lacked atmosphere as there was no music playing to make it feel particularly Christmasy. The staff were nice and we appreciated they were working on their Christmas Day. Service was very slow. For the price you pay for Xmas dinner I was very disappointed and would not return next year. I normally enjoy our trips to the white lion and the meals there however very very disappointed.

Decided to try somewhere new tonight, amd found an absolute hidden gem in The White Lion! We had the fish and chips, and hunters chicken. Both were amazing. Bursting with creativity and flavour. It shows the talent of the chef when they take commonly served dished and elevate them to the level they did. Atmosphere was relaxing and esthetically pleasing, would be a brilliant venue to host events in. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about dishes and drinks, quick to check in with our table. Top notch quality food and service, thank you for a great evening out. Highly recommend!!

I recently visited The White Lion, and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a night out with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was delicious – we tried the Sunday roast, and everything exceeded our expectations! The drink selection was impressive, with a great mix of local brews and classic options. I’d highly recommend The White Lion to anyone looking for a relaxed and enjoyable spot with good vibes. We’ll definitely be back!
