We stayed for two nights whilst visiting family freinds in a family suite. The White rock offers comfortable seafront accommodation and good amenities at a reasonable price. Any issue we had we dealt with quickly and professionally by frindky and capable staff. The bars and cafe offers a mix of local food and drink with a veranda over looking the pier and beach. The hotel has a car park at rear which is a luxury in this area.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a room overlooking the sea. Although there is a carpark we were unable to find a space. The rooms are comfortable and the service is very good. Breakfast is very good but we only had dinner in the hotel once as unfortunately we were unimpressed as service was very slow and the food uninspiring. However the staff generally were very pleasant and helpful. We would return.

The hotel was perfect for our one night stay, as we were visiting to see a friend’s band play in the hotel basement bar – which is a great space for a small gig, being divided up into two spaces, for chatting when not listening to the band. The bar upstairs was also a plus – it had real cask ales, which is unusual for a hotel these days. Staff were friendly and helpful. |Generally the hotel is endearingly old-fashioned and quirky, keeping many old features, though some elements are showing wear and tear, and slight neglect, or just looked a bit cheap, and could do with updating. But for the price we paid it was very good value. |Rather than a sea view, we chose a room at the back to limit noise, and it was quiet, and the view not too bad onto a large brick wall and plants. |The room was large, with two double beds (perhaps not quite the standard width). There was reasonable storage. The bathroom was also very spacious. The room was a bit dated, including the beds, but it was clean, and the bathroom was modern. |Complimentary water was provided. There was no mini-fridge or safe. The wifi seemed to work well. |Breakfast was good, with a large choice, including vegetarian options, though the meat-free sausages were not the best. I’d never had meat-free bacon before so can’t say how that compares. You order the food, and guests get a 20% discount making it very reasonably priced (we paid about £8 each for cooked breakfast with coffee). |Guest parking is a bit limited, and we arrived a little too late to get a parking spot at the back (entrance from the road at the back). But we got a card from reception to park in either the underground Pier car park or St Margaret’s Road open air, a little further away, which we used. We were able to park in the car park on the morning of departure. As we were meeting friends for a late coffee at a beach café, we asked if we could leave the car until a bit later, and the receptionist very kindly said it was no problem, which was much appreciated. |I noticed online that the hotel was put up for sale in February, after 20 years under the same independent management, so things might change depending on who buys.

We just stopped in for a cup of coffee. And a cake. The cake was delicious, gluten-free and really yummy chocolate and salted caramel. The coffee was hot and the service was excellent, including bringing things over to us even though we hadn't asked for that. A nice place to hang out when other things are closed, so it was very handy that it was open during the winter season. We didn't actually stay at the hotel so I can't come in on rooms and their quality

We stayed 2 nights here with our dog, Rosie, who was totally loved by all staff. Our room wasn’t one that had been refurbished, but was absolutely fine and totally fitted our purpose. All hotel staff were absolutely brilliant and made an enormous fuss of Rosie! Everywhere was clean and food was really very good indeed! My wife was sick and tired of me describing the ‘Steak and Ale Pie’ as “banging “ but that’s the truth. Thank you for a couple of great nights!

Carpets needs a bloody good clean. Paint will also be good. A lot needs updating. Beds was the only thing worth the money, was semi good and can sleep decent. But the rest needs upgrading and more staff is needed.
