Great price for a Saturday night £53. Great location. Car park and town centre 5 minute walk away.||Cold welcome at check in. Just basic check in. No pleasantries or explanation as to how to get to the room, if we’d like breakfast or that we needed to hand in the room key when we left the hotel - this latter one we found bery strange but complied. It wasn’t till we left the hotel late Saturday afternoon that we were told by the same receptionist that we need the paper receipt to claim the key back - partner had to go back to our 3rd floor room to get this. All of which could have been explained at check in!||Room basic and bathroom needed some TLC. Bed comfy but no kettle (even though there were lots of tea/coffee/milk/sugar available). This was sorted out quickly Sunday morning by my partner going down to reception (no phone in the room to call down). No waste bin in room or bathroom which posed a slight problem due to the nature of the rubbish we had - we had to source a carrier bag and bring the personal|rubbish home. This was mentioned Saturday evening upon our return to the room and we were told cleaner would provide one in the morning nut we checked out at 10:30am and no bin had arrived. Mentioned this to receptionist Sunday morning and he replied with ‘okay.’ ||Simple touches could make this hotel much better. For a cheap price, we would stay again.

Big old hotel in the centre of Halifax. Perfect for our gig at the piece centre. Huge staircases and appeared clean. We had two rooms, ours was like a prison cell.|||| Windows didn't open, windows actually covered in paper? No view, blacked out, old style shower head over bath and dark room.||Television didn't work, coffee cups were dirty ( coffee on spoons)and there was rubbish behind the bin from previous guests. ||The toilet backed up completely, wouldn't flush, and the sink wouldn't empty 🤢 ||Nothing done about the television despite me reporting it at 7 pm and nobody came to fix the toilet.||The man on the desk at 7 pm just shrugged. || ( The lovely girl on the desk at midnight was incredibly apologetic about the toilet, but as it was midnight couldn't fix anything. She was lovely though and very sorry) ||Fortunately my daughter had a room on the third floor. ||Like a different hotel! ||Bright, airy, clean, modern bathroom ( toilet not level to the top with sh*t like ours 🤢🤢🤢)||We used hers to shower. Thank god. ||||When we left the lad on the desk wasn't too bothered. No real apology, we were just told we could claim the money back through Expedia. I explained this was hassle for us and said I'd be in touch about a free stay in a better room. ||He was incredibly nonchalant.||||We will stay again as the location was perfect, but if my daughter hadn't had a room we would have not been able to wash, shower or use the toilet at all ( plus sleeping in a room with a toilet full of poo ten feet away wasn't great)

OK for a budget stay. The staff are trying, the place is clean, new carpet, recently painted and there is hot water. Bed comfy enough. No hairdryer in room, heating was on in June but did turn off, tv aerial knackered so no signal at all. Think Best Western faded grandeur, great location.

Stayed at The White Swan whilst attending Concert at Piece Hall. Extremely busy concert with hotel prices extortionate. We stumble up this little gem on Booking.Com and all I can say it WOW. The room prices were beyond reasonable and was expecting to walk in to find a Fawlty Towers runner up. Instead it was exceptionally. The staff were more than welcoming to the point of letting us drop our luggage off early to then find they had took our bags up to our room before we checked in. Room was very clean and comfortable and location is right in the heart of the centre. This is definitely a must stay if ever visiting Halifax. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Initially I thought 'yes it's dated' but I knew it would be. The room is old but was clean and the bathroom was lovely and spacious. ||However, 2 things. 1 I had a shower then realised there was no hairdryer in the room. No phone to call reception so I walked all the way down and the staff kindly brought one to my room very quickly. No complaints there. ||The main reason for such a low rating though was the mattress. Oh my goodness. I sat on the bed when I got back from the wedding I was attending at midnight and thought 'oh no whats that under the duvet?' thinking someone had left a remote under there, ||Oh no. No remote.... this was the springs of the bed! The mattress was so worn out you could feel every thick spring and bar in the bed. Luckily i was staying on my own so had to use the spare pillows to pad out my body as I had laid there for 30 minutes trying to get a comfortable spot where a metal rod wasn't sticking into my body. ||It was gone midnight so I was in no position to be moving rooms at that time. ||When i woke in the morning I noticed that the underside of the quilt cover had a huge blue dye stain all over it (I don't own anything blue and was sleeping in a white top). ||There is no view from the window and the spot is noisy on the street. ||I wish I had paid the extra and stayed at the premier inn which is a 2 minute walk across the road. ||I did mention the issues to the reception staff as I left and left a review to the same effect on Airbnb which I booked it through. ||I get paying a budget price but to have a mattress that you cannot even lie on is unacceptable. ||Only thing saving this from a 1* review was the pleasantness of the staff there. ||Avoid at all costs - pay the extra for the Premier Inn.

Really impressed with The White Swan – great value for money and the location is spot on. Right in the centre so everything’s just a short walk away. Room was clean and comfy, and perfect for a short stay. Would definitely stay again!

Very very basic. Room tidy and dated and they say they are upgrading but Jesus this need more then upgrading. A hostel is better. Would I go back! No . Would I recommend ? No. Pay the extra and stay in travelodge. We haven’t slept all night exhausted and can’t wait to get out of here staff useless and don’t help and don’t care when you complain. Told them a bad review was going on and no care given

The lift was terrifying, the noises it was making and clunking was concerning. The room was quite small with outdated decorating, the toilet seat was broken and the Wi-Fi barely worked. The receptionist was smoking out the front with his air pods in. Barely slept as the room was so hot and we had the window open. The bed was very small for a double and we both struggled to get a decent night sleep. Although I feel you get what you pay for, I feel you can get more for your money else where and we won’t be visiting again. The place had a very eerie feel to it and wasn’t very welcoming or clean. There was also a white, crusty stain on the bedsheets😬
