Nice clean, cosy room with everything we needed. Lovely bathroom. Despite staying on a Friday night, we didn't encounter any noise to disturb us. The staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was lovely - generous portions of good quality produce, & happy to cook to our preference. Lovely little stopover on our trip, at a reasonable price.

Went for Sunday lunch and a few drinks. Veg was more than enough for 3. Best carrots I've had, fresh and lovely. Lots of meat(I got one of each) Beef,Pork and Chicken) all cooked to perfection. Yorkie was massive. Mash and roast potatoes on point with plenty of gravy.

The windmill pub is actually a nice country pub but their shepherds cot accommodation is very poor and not at all worth the price. It is very misleading in the description given. There are 4 cots in a secluded area behind the pub, each with a picnic table. However the bed and sofa bed are poor quality, extremely low and VERY uncomfortable. There is no privacy for changing etc and one toilet and one shower between all 4 cots..... absolutely intolerable. Neither were very clean and the only sink is in the toilet cistern. Imagine cleaning your teeth in that. Especially as you are sharing with complete strangers. The breakfast was nice, with a reasonable choice. However, although staff are polite, they are not particularly welcoming.
There is no way I could recommend staying here unless the owners have plans to substantially improve what they offer.

Lovely pub, dog friendly. Serves great Sunday lunches. Good beer. Midweek meals are also excellent. Good walks along the cinder track across the old railway viaduct to Whitby. Bungy jumping from the viaduct on some weekends. You can walk or cycle in the opposite direction to Scarborough which is about 25 miles away.

I’m going to be very honest . The food staff bar and pub were excellent very good portions, vfm and quality of evening dinner and breakfast. Now onto the accommodation . We stayed with our dog so had to use one of the shepherd huts . I obviously didn’t read the pre booking info properly as the hut was very hot couldn’t open the window at night, the quilt was dirty under the over cover and I incorrectly expected a tap/sink which it didn’t have. The one toilet and single shower were adequate but we’ve used better on camp sites . With an upgrade on the huts, toilet and shower I would have given it a 4.5/5 rating but I have to be honest for what we paid for the accommodation it wasn’t value for money . Unless they upgraded the huts and facilities we wouldn’t stay again but if they did I’d be happy to pay and stay once more. The staff were friendly and helpful but let down by the hut quality I can’t speak for the inn rooms as we couldn’t used them as we had our pet dog as mentioned

Beautiful pub/eatery. Very relaxing bar with amazing food. Great choice of beverages served up by a friendly happy go lucky barmaid. Dog friendly, too. This place is a hidden gem.

Great stay, wonderful team working efficiently to create an inclusive pub atmosphere. Great banter with the locals, food looked amazing especially the Sunday lunches. We stayed Sunday evening, room was clean and cosy and we had a great night sleep. Breakfast was lovely, great choice, charming little restaurant area and beautifully cooked. Would certainly stay agsin. ☺️

We booked and paid for this in Australia. Had our confirmation numbers and receipt. Got there to be told they did not receive payment or our name. Had to pay again, but only space left was a small gypsy wagon cabin
out back. Had to use toilet behind the Inn overnight. Can only sort out payment truth back in Australia. Staff were great. Food was great.
