Having tried another nearby establishment where we were basically ignored it was very refreshing to be greeted with a smile and a cheery hello from Aida who was serving. We used The Witching Post every night for the rest of our week’s holiday trying many of the offerings on the menu, all were delicious and decent sized portions
Pete, the landlord was always also cheery and happy to join in with us non locals for a chat and the normal North South banter !

This is a great Pub B&B. The first thing you notice is the warm welcome you get from the staff - like you are old friends. The Inn is situated very conveniently near to the North Yorkshire coast, parking on site, great beer garden and dog friendly; more than that really, very dog welcoming I would say. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable beds and great shower. The food is excellent, honest and at a reasonable price and so is the beer too. We have booked again for later in the year and very much look forward to that.

I’m a bit reluctant to give a review as I don’t want everyone knowing about this fabulous place. We’ve just returned home after a three night stay with our dog. We had a wonderful time- our room was comfortable, clean and spacious - plenty of room for the dog, who of course, was the priority. It was great to find somewhere where dogs are made so welcome - their owners being tolerated also !!! Breakfast was amazing - but beware of Pete’s poached egg joke!! - and the evening meals were also fabulous and good value. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Loved every minute of our stay and thank you to Pete for our extra night and for just being a wonderful host. Can’t wait to return with Ned. An absolute gem of a place with lovely people. Thank you again and hopefully see you soon xx

We spent a weekend based in Whitby, and found it near impossible to find anything vegan in the restaurants that actually tickled our fancy. Half an hour of googling for nearby places and we immediately decided to head out of Whitby to Egton, ten minutes drive away, and The Witching Post Inn. It boasts six vegetarian/ vegan dishes on the menu. All sounded delicious but we decided on the wellington and the Thai curry the first night, and then wellington sunday dinner the day after. All well prepared and presented, and the Sunday dinner came with lots of veg and side dishes. Big bonus was the open fire, the welcoming staff, host and locals. Well worth a visit!

Cosy traditional pub with great pale ale and super food. We had a Thai curry special and the best steak pie I’ve had in a very long time. Lovely tasty steak in a guiness gravy was beautiful with freshly cooked and flavoursome veg and chips….the owner came out to check we were having a good time, a warm and friendly approach and a nice way to spend a few hours on Easter Monday. We will be back, thank you

We ate at The Witching Post Inn on the last night of our holiday, the chicken parmo and its accompaniments were delicious. The staff were very welcoming. Great atmosphere. We will be back 😊

One night stay away for me and the partner. I was delayed for day. Made my partner and dogs feel more than welcome before I got there. I turned up late. They still served us some food. Landlord is a top bloke. Very friendly as is rest of staff. It’s an old lovely cosy building with rooms to match. Room we had was huge for what was expected. Good bathroom. Really good food. Can’t recommend enough.

Although I don't remember the exact date, I just wanted people to know my honest review of this fine establishment.

Locals were very friendly, food was great. If I'm really nitpicking, I'd say the Food took slightly longer than expected. But it was worth the wait!

We stayed for a few nights sometime earlier in the year. The building is fairly historical and a Lovely place to be. Barstaff are Lovely and very welcoming. I struggled to communicate with Pete at first, but he was also very friendly, had some great jokes😂 and was very helpful directing my partner and I to some Lovely places for out Dogs to let loose. Pete also had 2 beautiful Laboradors!

A huge Thanks to all the staff at the Witching Post. We'll be back again late Summer!🍺🛌
