We really enjoyed our weekend stay. The room was fantastic with a wow factor bathroom with roll top bath and huge walk in shower and under floor heating. Bed was so comfortable. It was lovely to have such luxury.|We ate in the restaurant on both nights with good choice on menu. Food was delicious. The beef was especially good and compliments must go to the chef. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.|The ladies on reception were fab. Big thank you to Paige for giving us that amazing room and to Sarah for just being lovely and helpful.|We loved this hotel and its history. We will definitely be coming back.|One of the best hotel breaks we have had....just perfect.

Really enjoyed this staying for 2 nights. We stayed in a Pear Mews room which was lovely. The hotel was the home of a French Duke and itโ€™s classy with lovely panelled walls. The log fire was gorgeous . Food was excellent and the cod with samphire and mash was fantastic. Breakfast was also really good- high quality and great choice. We had a great time here and thoroughly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

Staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. The room was lovely and clean. Scored 4 stars as I feel it would benefit from a pool and maybe spa facilities. The old house is stunning and the interior is beautiful. The woodwork is different in every room. The restaurant was great and the steak was the best my husband has had.

I stayed at the Wood Norton hotel last week with 3 friends. Our single occupancy rooms were in the Pear Tree Mews, an annexe to the main hotel. The bedrooms were comfortable but the addition of a safe or a fridge might be more helpful for some. The en suite bathrooms could best be described as tired in appearance. Some basic functions such as the sink plug being faulty were quickly rectified when reported. One needs to be prepared for the shower being in the bath - not a walk- in. The furniture in my room looked rather worn.|The provision at breakfast was very good when ordering from the breakfast menu. A continental breakfast is available, though limited in choice - and difficult to see as the room, separate to the main dining room, is rather dark.|The bar area has a completely different atmosphere to the other main panelled rooms elsewhere. It is a comfortable area but has the drawback of nowhere to hang coats.|Having arrived mid-afternoon at the hotel, we booked a table for dinner that evening but were told that there were only 2 slots available. Our meal (main course) on the first evening took over 40 minutes to arrive. Whilst the food was very enjoyable , the wait was disappointing. The cause for the delay became apparent the following evening when one friend ordered the chicken dish - we were then told that the chicken took 40 minutes to cook - this explained the delay the previous evening which we were not warned about. The food was very enjoyable. Again there is nowhere evident to hang coats - but having asked where we might be able to put them, a member of staff took them away. Certain areas of the dining room seemed to be much cooler than others in temperature.|The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful when needed.|The hotel offers certain high standards and then drops in other areas and therefore the consistency of an even luxury feel, as advertised, fails.|The hotel is spotlessly clean and the maintenance of the outside areas is immaculate. Little touches of flowers around the hotel were to be admired.

Excellent hotel. Lovely room with everything we needed. The staff are wonderful - friendly, helpful and efficient. The grounds are a bird watcher's paradise. I wish I'd taken my binoculars! Our final evening was slightly marred by an initially friendly chat with the owner in the bar that turned difficult when he started giving us his views on economics and politics very forcibly, even though I said repeatedly we didn't want to discuss these topics on our weekend away and after a relaxing evening with an old friend.

What a lovely stay we had!|Zeus the cat was there to meet us, either that or he just wanted to be let in!|Warm welcome from reception then up to our room in the main house which was lovely with equally lovely views.|Dinner was great, no surprises on the menu, but the quality was excellent, no,really excellent!|Breakfast was a delight!|No one appeared to be having the โ€œFull Englishโ€, probably because the eggs were amazing, either Benedict,Florentine or Royal. Cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.|Only one criticism, who thought that that bar in that beautiful hotel was a good idea? Hideous! Should be made in keeping with its surroundings, a bar you want to spend time in, and money!

Although we do not live very far away we needed a quick break to remember our wedding anniversary -so off to The Wood Norton we went. Easy to find even though there are several other businesses up the drive. Very friendly receptionist told us where everything was. Our offer included a cream tea which was taken in the bar - lovely warm scones and real clotted cream - and a bonus for us - their cat ! A young Maine Coon called Zeus who is gorgeous. Our room with a view over the river was spacious and well equipped with a decent size TV and 2 easy chairs plus a very comfortable super king size bed.|Dinner in the brasserie was served perfectly and included a very tasty soup. Breakfast in the morning w3as another delight - help yourself to a huge selection of starters and then the cooked food was TO ORDER - so much appreciated instead of warmed up cooked food so popular these days - well done The Wood Norton.|A lovely stay - EXCEPT for the fire alarm at 11.00pm - false alarm, thank goodness and not their fault. Excellent helpful and polite staff everywhere.
