Stumbled upon Tides In Tides Out during a coastal jaunt, lured in by promises of street food specials. In hindsight, the lack of other patrons should've been our first warning.

We opted for two cheeseburgers and a kebab, hoping for a tasty seaside treat. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

The cheeseburgers were a disappointment through and through. The patties tasted suspiciously like those cheap frozen ones you'd find in the back of a budget supermarket freezer. Bland and uninspiring, they did little to satisfy our hunger or our taste buds. Even the cheese seemed to have given up, melting half-heartedly over the lacklustre meat.

The kebab fared no better. The portion was laughably small, barely enough to feed a seagull. The meat was drier than the rocks we were sitting on, and the sauce did little more than make the whole affair slightly less parched.

On the bright side, the place was clean - a small consolation for our grumbling stomachs. And the view, well, that was the real star of the show.

It's a shame really. With such a prime location, Tides In Tides Out could be a gem. Instead, it's serving up food that's about as appealing as finding sand in your swimsuit after a dip in the sea.

If you find yourself in the area, you're better off seeking out a proper chippy. As for Tides In Tides Out, unless they seriously up their game, I'd give it a miss. Sometimes, an empty restaurant tells you all you need to know.

Ordered fish and chips with curry sauce costing £10.99 + 1.99 , as I’m at the sea side was expecting proper chippy style freshly battered cod due to the price what I received was over cooked frozen battered fish that was 90% batter 10% fish and don’t get me started on the curry sauce. Worse food iv ever been served was so annoyed didn’t bother even asking for a refunded I simply left as I was so shocked stay away at all cost was the down side of my visit to Combe Martin !

Worst takeaway I’ve ever been, who on earth microwaves fish ? Dry and hard from the fridge, you would expect fresh fish when your near to the sea ?
Sausage and chips came separate and had to pay individually not as a meal the same for burger and chips
Three meals came to over £30 it’s not even poor quality food.
Woman asked her colleague if there was anything going on the burger but as he didn’t know the couldn’t be arsed to ask me
Stay well clear

Ordered two tea cakes and two coffees, one americano and a one shot latte. Tea cakes came first but one wasn't toasted properly. The coffees after waiting were brought to our table. Hearing the staff chatting loudly they clearly had issues with making the coffee. The latte was just a milky coffee in a larger cup than my cup even though we ordered the same size coffees. The staff also had big issues with the tea cakes from what we heard of their conversation, e.g. should they be defrosted before toasting or not, how do you toast a tea cake. This conversation went on the entire time we were in there. It wasn't a good atmosphere having your order talked about loudly and staff arguing over it. Glad to leave the cafe and unfortunately will never return. They need to learn from bad reviews they've had and improve, if they read them. By the way one tea cake was £3.95, complete rip off.

Tide In Cafe Review

Can you rewrite my review, feel free to add some humour. The Tide In cafe was really good, it gets a 5 star review from me. It has an excellent selection of breakfasts, including eggs Benedict and the usual full cooked breakfast. I asked for fried bread, which wasn't on the menu and the chef said that he would do this. The breakfast was good. To be knit picking I would ask for better quality sausages and use Yorkshire tea but it's still a great place.

Well, let's give it a try!

If you're looking for a breakfast spot that will leave you feeling tide over, The Tide In cafe is the place to be! I give it five stars - and I'm not just blowing bubbles.

Their breakfast menu is on point - with classic dishes like eggs Benedict and the full cooked breakfast. But what sets this place apart is their willingness to go the extra nautical mile. When I asked for fried bread (not on the menu), the chef said "Aye, aye, captain!" and whipped it up without a fuss. And let me tell you, it was ship-shape!

Now, I don't want to sound like a seagull, but if I had to nitpick, I would say that the sausages could be of better quality and they could serve Yorkshire tea. But even with these minor details, The Tide In is still a great catch! So come on down and give it a try - I'm shore you'll love it!
