We had a lovely stay at Toghill House Farm with our three teenagers. An easy drive from Bath and plenty of options to eat nearby. The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful and sustained us all till dinner. The beds were comfortable and spacious. Highly recommended for families.

What a lovely place to stay. The two house hounds Ralphie and Ferris were a delight to meet and made our stay even better. Lovely rooms with lots of space. Would love to visit again when the weather isn’t just so miserable! Hot chocolate in the room certainly helped warm us up after a long and damp walk along the Cotswold Way. The family were kind enough to allow us to eat our Indian takeaway in the dining room too. A great stay.

I stayed twice in the space of a couple of weeks. The location is lovely: surrounded by countryside and with sheep and chickens out the back. The rooms are very pleasant, the breakfast was faultless and in a nice setting. Lots of parking. For me as a solo traveller the stay was good value for money. The one niggle about the location for me was that during early evening rush hour the road outside the property backs up with traffic to the junction a couple of hundred yards away. It doesn't affect the peace, but means you need to allow a little extra time if your driving out then.

We initially chose Toghill Farm for our short break due to not only it's location, but also what looked to be a beautifully preserved building. Grade II listed and steeped in history and character. The outdoor courtyards and garden all looked very pretty and well maintained too. Externally it looks fabulous.

Customer Service
When we arrived, we knocked and no one answered. We tried again and after several minutes a man came out. We had no idea if he was a guest, a co-owner, or a cleaner! He didn't introduce himself, and didn't seem too interested in us either way. He pointed to an envelope with a key inside with the room number and our Surname on the front. We were then told that the owner was on holiday, which we knew nothing about and he walked off. The following day I did speak to a lovely young lady that I caught coming up the stairs who said she was "house sitting" for the owner whilst she was away, but if I hadn't have asked, we wouldn't have known who was running the place. We run 2 AirB&B's. We always greet out guests, and hand them the keys. But we don't just disappear and leave them to figure out things for themselves! Even though it may appear obvious where everything is, it's a chance to welcome our guest and to answer any questions they may have. We want our guests to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We also assure them that if they have any questions later down the line to knock on our front door, and we will do our best to help or accommodate them. This is strange concept is called Customer Service!

Room
Obviously we weren't expecting the Ritz! We've backpacked all over the place and we're used to roughing it. So we're not necessarily being overly fussy. There was a small tray for packets of coffee, sugar etc Under which were dog hairs mixed in with milk pots that had split open and leaked. Dirty drinking glasses and then more dog hair in the en-suite sink. A shower that wasn't working properly so it was more of a dribble. Stains on the bedding, mould in the corners of the ceiling, which was also stained, and rock hard beds and very thin pillows. Unfortunately, the decor looked like it had been thrown together with little thought, almost like a mish mash of items picked up randomly from a charity shop. Everything looked sadly tired and dated, from the coloured bathroom suites to the over painted anaglyptol on the walls.

The cooked breakfast was not especially nice in comparison to the many other B&B's we have stayed at. Cheap ingredients, and piles of cooked mushrooms and a single greasy sausage and eggs that weren't fully cooked with the albumen still on on top (I did politely ask for the my egg to be well done and cooked on both sides) . It was reminiscent of a Little Chef cooked breakfast.

Sorry for leaving negative comments, but overall we didn't feel especially relaxed and comfortable for a 3 night stay. People come to places like this as much for the experience (we live in a similar rural location in an old property, which is why we we were so looking forward to staying in a 17th century house frequented by monks, which makes Tofts Hill Farm very unique). With more and more accommodation coming onto the market with the surge in AirB&B's, we just felt we were wowed by this beautiful example of architecture as we approached, only to feel like once we were inside nothing did the place justice. It really fell short of our expectations. The addition of some sympathetic upgrades, which still preserved the integrity of this beautiful building would make it truly amazing.

We've had such a lovely stay! Laura and her family welcomed us so warmly, we will definitely come back with our kids, either for a quiet rest or for the delicious breakfast in the morning!

This place is shocking for all the right reasons. Do not walk here though, unless you get the 603 to Tracey Park approx. Then walk along Tog Hill. Fairly easy walk along the wide verges. My sister and I did it, by different directions from the centre of Bath. Fortunately, a driver gave her a lift. I happily went through fields and over gates. We grew up in Bath. We got taxis and a local friend gave us a lift on the last day. I loved the stay. I loved the setting. I loved the warm room and bathroom. I loved the service and the breakfast. I loved the microwave and fridge in the hallway plus the copious amount of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. Will, I stay again? Without a doubt, I will stay again. I like my comfort, and here I get it.

We stayed over at this wonderful place for our Easter break. It was one of the best experiences we’ve had here as a family. And we’d love to visit again and definitely will recommend this amazing place to others as well!
Hotel , rooms, and other facilities: in an excellent condition, rooms were spacious ( we got a family room and they provided a cot bed for our one year old), bathrooms are very clean, both the exterior and interior of the hotel were alluring!

Host and the staff: wonderful in every aspect!! Big thanks to Laura( the owner for her hospitality)

Breakfast: typical fully English breakfast. Delicious and lavish.

Location: conveniently located in the middle of area , which is closed to many tourists attractions ( Bath, Roman baths, Costworld village, many national trust parks and houses)

Additional information: adequate parking places available for free for visitors and safety is alright I suppose. Fuel stations is near by .
Calm and quiet, very family friendly specially when you travel with young kids , this place is ideal for them to be in the nature and experience farm animals.

However, need to be aware that they won’t provide dinner and lunches. It anyway is not a problem because they are letting you to use their microwave and fridge also , so that can be easily solved!

A warm welcome and superb hospitality from Laura and her family. Very comfortable and well kitted en-suite room and excellent farmhouse breakfast in homely surroundings. Well worth the extra walk from the Cotswold Way for an overnight stay !
