The Tollemache Arms is an incredibly beautiful building in Buckminster.
Having stayed overnight on a previous trip, we stopped off for Sunday lunch. My lamb was tender and succulent and the portions enormous. Sides included a delicious cauliflower & broccoli cheese and a good range of vegetables. I watched with envy as puddings were being dispatched from the kitchen, knowing full well I wouldn't be able to manage one.
Really delicious food, excellent value and Tracey was a lovely host who went round the tables checking on customers. Will definitely return.

Tracey & Andy are superb hosts! Decent and kind. Fabulous breakfast and super comfortable beds!
There is a shooting simulator FieldShot (google them) just around the corner run by Alex that’s awesome if you’re looking for something to do!

Had a delicious Barnsley Chop. I can highly recommend this dish. It was a good portion, freshly cooked with chips, peas and mint gravy.

The accommodation at The Tallemache Arms is not cheap. We paid over Β£100 per night for an ensuite double room. With such a price tag comes certain expectations from the guests around levels of cleanliness, quality of facilities and decor etc. And I'm afraid the accommodation and the building as a whole did not meet those expectations. The room itself has a small double bed, and the bedding at least was clean. But other areas of the room were filthy. In fact the whole building - the corridors, the bar area, the rear entrance area - none of them seemed to have seen a vacuum cleaner, sweeping brush, duster and polish, mop etc. in some time. Tables in the bar and eating area were not wiped down between customers. Grime pervaded everywhere.
We stayed mid July and the weather was warm, but not sweltering. But because there is no air con. and because the owners have put up secondary double glazing at the windows, secured in place by 4 wooden batons screwed to the window frame in 18 places, then, (unless you bring a power drill with you, along with 2 burly workers to take the weight of the double glazing sheet) I'm afraid there is zero chance of getting any fresh air in to that room. As I say, the weather wasn't sweltering by any means, but the room was stifling all night. We got very little sleep.
The staff were pleasant and friendly, but I'm afraid that didn't make up for poor facilities, poor accommodation and poor value for money. Avoid.

This is a pleasant enough place to stay, in a beautiful village. The owners are very helpful and keen to please. Your view of the experience will depend on you - it will either be quirky and charming, or odd and slightly annoying. The rooms are OK, although the bed wasn't the most comfortable. The food was decent. The WiFi was awful, but they are trying to improve it they said. We would probably stay again because it's very close to where we sometimes need to be, but wouldn't go out of our way to stay here.
