Not the best Travelodge I have stayed in. Reception and the dining and bar area are fine. The room I stayed in faced south and had large bay windows which we had to keep the curtains closed all the time. This was partly for privacy and partly to keep the intense heat out. We were provided with a fan, but this was not very effective. You have to ask for a hairdryer if you want one, they are not automatically in the room. They provided extra towels as we were only given 32 bath on one hand towel the other issue with the room was although it was very large, it did not have anywhere to put suitcases other than the floor. There was no drawers or shelves even for clothing. There was a hanging mail, but that is not for small items of clothing. Although a spacious room, the bed was fixed in position, just 1 foot from one of the walls which made getting into it outside very difficult. A kettle is provided along with teabags and instant coffee and two mugs which I felt was the absolute bare minimum. There was no glass provided for water or cold drinks. We had to ask for that.

Lovely atmosphere, clean rooms (which is a big deal for me) and excellent breakfast. This was a last minute trip and I'm glad there was still a room available since it's a reliable hotel for us! Never had a problem staying here when visiting family and taking in the sights, can't praise this place enough.

Unfortunately the hotel was a let down to our break away and would advise avoiding this Travelodge in Canterbury. The room had one thing after another wrong with it and no where near worth the money. Firstly, the toilet didn’t flush properly and the handle on the toilet was on the way out, on the first day it broke off after a few flushes (you had to flush the toilet multiple times each time you went), when complaining about it an hour or so after checking in regarding the amount of times you had to flush, the man at reception just said it’s an old building, which would explain water pressure but not a broken system. When the handle broke the following day and I had to go back to reception, I was informed ONCE AGAIN that it was an old building, to which I stated that doesn’t warrant a broken flusher handle. They told me “oh well you go out for the day and we will just reattach it, they always pop off here”, they did so but the toilet was still unreliable and had to use the toilet in reception and when out in the city during the day. We had lights that did not work in our room, curtains that did not close due to the railing being dislodged. There was makeup markings on the mirror from previous guests and we weren’t supplied with a bath mat, which caused hazard due to the shower only being a step up from the floor, with no boarder/glass walls so water would go everywhere when in use. We had to use one of our 2 towels in the end as we kept slipping on the floor. To make things worse, the bathroom door didn’t even close properly, so privacy was out of the question. My partner and I felt very let down by the hotel and reception staff, which is disappointing with the convenience of the location.

Have stayed here twice, last summer and this spring. Rooms were nice but views were not.

Overall service was good especially the recent visit. They actively changed my room with breakfast when I had an issue in my room. The only thing to improve is to make sure that the shower gel and shampoo are available as they were missing.

Arrived a little early but as not one of all of the rooms were available the girl on the desk shuffling paperwork refused to let me check in. She did not check to see if anything was actually available, offered no apology or excuse, and made no effort to help. Simply No checking. She did not even offer to let me wait a few mins while they tried to help me out. Simply turned away and ignored me. The other staff at the checkout in were obviously embarrassed by their colleague and moved off to the back office.
Extremely disappointed in the lack of effort, help, interest, professionalism or any hint of a welcoming customer service.
This girl clearly needs to be sent on some sort of training course before she does further damage to the brand…

Small but clean & quiet room. Rare to not get free WiFi anywhere these days! Hair/body soap in the shower was empty and no water glasses despite the fact it's impossible to fit a water bottle under the tap in the bathroom. Helpful and friendly staff.

Had a lovely , comfortable stay at the Chaucer Central. Very much true Travelodge style and value for money and very central to the town. The hotel was much upgraded since our last visit a few years back when Travelodge had just taken it over.

Booked for early check-in (12:00) several months in advance, arrived on time only to be told the room was not ready and given the excuse that there were 6 early check-ins that day. The room was not ready until 12:30 while I waited at reception watching several walk-ins get a room immediately. A big failure of management at this establishment. The only positive with this establishment is their central location, a fact that they are riding on for business as the rooms are incredibly tired and the bathrooms have no soap or shower gel, only a broken dispenser which was barely held onto the wall, go somewhere else people.
