We booked this stay as we were travelling from the South to Newcastle airport. It was in the idea position for us, and booked in advance it was a good price. We arrived around 8pm and the Travelodge had plenty of parking, which is shared with the pub next to it. The room we had was large and comfortable with the usual facilities. We had a warm and bright welcome from the friendly reception staff (apologies I cannot remember his name), which was nice after the long drive up.
From the corridor there is an adjoining door to the pub which you can use, but this was locked when we were there. However it is a very short walk from front door to front door. I would also recommend the pub for food.
All in all a good place to stay.

I enjoyed a two night stay at Chester-kW-Street Travelodge. The room was extremely clean, fresh bedding and towels. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Walk-in shower and the stay was not at all noisy. Reception staff were helpful and additional milk, tea and coffee available at reception.

Absolutely loved our stay. Loved the mix of old and new. The bathroom was all sleek and modern, and the bedroom had not been modernised, but I loved it. We had a proper desk, 2 chairs, and a proper freestanding wardrobe with doors on it! Sounds odd, I know to be so excited by the mix of old and new but for me it was the perfect combo. In addition, everything was very, very clean, the room, the corridors etc. Some of the very newest Travelodges have taken minimalism a step too far, and it makes things uncomfortable. The Chester-le-Street team should take pride in a job very well done.

Very accommodating reception Lovely clean room. Easy access to pub next door where there was good food but a bit expensive. Plenty of car parking spaces fairly close to the hidden entry to the hotel. Good value for money hotel in easy travel distance to the Beamish living museum.

Perfect location for Beamish great location for getting into places like Durham and Newcastle. Great public transportation as it’s very close to a bus stop. The x21 and 21 buses cost only £2 each way. The hotel is in a convenient area unfortunately the hotel was very cold during our stay. There was no heating. The shower had no pressure. The beds were hard as rocks and the pillars were unbearable resulting in an Uncomfortable, weekend stay. The staff were friendly Great pub next door.

We stayed here with our two children just as somewhere to sleep when up in the NE visiting family. The staff were nice when we arrived and check in was simple. ||Our room was a family room and set in the eaves of the building. The room was clean and tidy but dark and dingey with only lamp light and no main light. The window was high up and very small. The room itself was clean but the shower room stank of cigarette smoke!!||The hotel is no smoking. We didn’t realise how badly it smelt until we had returned to the room that evening and the kids were asleep so we didn’t ask to be moved. We had to keep the bathroom door shut so the smell didn’t come into the room.||The show room was dated and felt dirty. ||We hoped to speak to reception on check out to mention both the cleanliness of the bathroom and the smell but the 24 hr reception was closed. ||We have stayed in Travelodges before of a much better standard.

Stayed here several times. Standard rooms but very clean and comfy bed. All rooms have showers only. Staff friendly. Lovely olde worlde type pub with open fire next door for meals and drinks. Not cheap but nice food. Great location for Durham, newcastle and Sunderland and is right on the A690 but very quiet. Ask for rear facing room if want it really quiet. Always try and stay here when up in the NE.
