I was in York for work recently and stayed at the Travelodge Monks Cross. Honestly, I had a really lovely stay. The hotel was easy to find and check-in was smooth. My room was clean and the bed was super comfy, which made a big difference after long days at work. I also had a couple of meals at the café, and the food was surprisingly good — especially for a budget hotel. Breakfast had plenty of options and set me up nicely for the day ahead.||What really stood out were the staff. Sue and Sully were both fantastic — really friendly, welcoming, and helpful with everything I needed, from local tips to just having a nice chat. It made the whole stay feel a lot more personal and enjoyable. The hotel’s location was also convenient, with shops and restaurants nearby if I needed anything.||Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for a work trip. I’d happily stay here again next time I’m in York, whether it’s for business or even a weekend break. Thanks to everyone at Travelodge Monks Cross for making my stay so pleasant!

This is an ideal place to stay. You have shops 3mins away if you forget anything. A number of eateries within a 5 min drive radius. The hotel is clean. The staff are fantastic and friendly. We had breakfast and it was all well cooked and fresh. You are only 5 mins from the park and ride into York. An hour drive and you are at the coast

Again. I was not in the best humour after a very long day working then a rough train ride from London. ||On arrival Sue on receptionist banished all my previous ill feeling to the world in the most professional way. If you’re treated with kindness and a bit of personality it is pretty hard to maintain a negative position. For very long. ||Well done Travelodge. You get the right people in, you maintain the position. ||D

Stayed in the disabled room on ground floor. Nice big bathroom with walk in shower. Very clean although shower floor wasn't too good as it was not adhered to floor properly so felt a bit unsafe to stand on. Lovely breakfast buffet style. Small bar area with TV, Lots of parking available although need to register car at reception on arrival. Accidentally pressed alarm by bed at 5.30am but Sue attended immediately from reception to ensure all was well. An enjoyable stay. Would return.

The facilities were pleasant enough but the service from our arrival was abysmal with the day staff. |As we were arriving for a wedding,we decided to arrive before check in so we had plenty of time and could sit and enjoy a coffee. |The women on reception were more concerned with their conversation that she rudely snapped "check in is at 12" then turned back to her colleague. |We moved to the dining area to grab a coffee, waiting 5 minutes whilst staff talked to each other, some staff even looked over, so were clearly aware of our presence but proceeded to finish their conversions then take our orders with an air as though we intruded on their time. ||The morning after was just as terrible in service. Whilst we hadn't booked breakfast, we simply wanted a coffee whilst we waited for people to come downstairs. |We went to the dining area to order a coffee, I didn't even get chance to finish my sentence when the young woman said if we hadn't ordered the breakfast then we had to order at reception, for the reception to tell me to go back to the diner when we asked for coffee. ||The only saving grace of customer service were the night staff, the most pleasant and helpful people in the whole place and the only reason to give a 2 instead of a 1.
