The room had floorboards which were a trip hazard and didn't fit. There was a horrible smell of damp and damp patches on the wall. The bathroom shower was difficult to operate with wet arthritic hands and the water almost burnt me. The cubicle is old and dirty. There was a heated towel rail above the toilet, which didn't work. Outside the door was a light and kept the room bright all night. It was an awful experience, the road noise is bad and I didn't sleep. I get that it's a budget hotel, but quite frankly I would avoid using this ever again.

Arrived early evening to a full wedding reception. Could not find anyone as there is no manned reception. Evenly found someone who said that they had blocked the bookings as they had a wedding reception but then found my booking for a deluxe double room. We were asked to leave and come back after they had cleaned a room, this was at 6.30 in the evening after driving for an hour. Obviously we declined this. The manner of staff was appalling and can't see how they are still open as a business.

I stayed here for two nights. The first night I was tired and had already showered so didn't notice quite how bad the room and bathroom were until the second evening after I'd been at work all day, otherwise I'd have scarpered! On arrival I found someone else's used and almost empty beard shampoo and puppy shampoo(!!) bottles in the bathroom. There was a sign stating a bath mat must be used (presumably for safety as the floor was tiled and there's a deep step from the shower) but there wasn't one, and I was told they're all in the laundry. The next morning I found a couple of ants crawling on my bed and across the floor, swathes of long dog hair on the floor and saw that the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Then to top it all, on the last morning I discovered 2 used sanitary towels lying face up in the bathroom cupboard. Who would even do this?!! And why were the cupboards and drawers not checked as part of 'housekeeping' as stated is part of the service on the website? The bathroom was cold with only an emergency light, and there was no hot water from either the shower or the tap. Since I had showered elsewhere the evening I arrived I didn't know about the shower until the morning I was leaving. Conversely the heater was effective (hot) but couldn't be turned down as the controls were locked and a timer on and I woke in the night feeling so hot that I had to unplug it altogether, after which it was too cold and I ended up wearing a jumper and socks in bed. The main room decor was tired but relatively tidy though there were stains on the walls and the ant / dog hair / heater issues. The photos showed a desk in the rooms but disappointingly my room didn't have one - I acknowledge hotels advertise their best rooms - but I had work to do so I sat on the bed with it instead. I wish I'd read and heeded the reviews on here before I booked but it was very last minute after having my expected accommodation cancelled. Even the car park was in a state and I know now I should have driven straight out of it again! |Good bits - really friendly and polite staff member though who was attentive when I called on the number given on arrival (although he didn't respond when I made contact on leaving). There was a new looking kettle and I was provided tea, coffee, milk and a mug when I arrived. Nice big TV with Netflix etc, no terrestrial channels. Bed linen was clean although the mattress sunk at the head end - nothing that two pillows couldn't fix.

Avoid if possible. Reception is unmanned. You phone a number, 2 Indian guys arrived.. They were unhelpful and unreasonable. They would not let me check in and said the booking was cancelled. Which it was not. Very unprofessional and left me high and dry. Had to drive a fair bit to get into another hotel - not good when you are exhausted.

I regret to say that my recent experience at OYO Tudor Oak Lodge Stevenage North was deeply disappointing. The facilities were substandard and reminiscent of a rundown establishment in a third-world country. The furniture was dirty and dilapidated, and the appliances seemed to be relics from medieval times.

As a British citizen born and raised, I am accustomed to the standards upheld by reputable hotel chains like Days Inn, Premier Inn and Travelodge, which typically offer 24/7 reception services. However, upon my arrival at 2 am due to traffic delays, I found the reception unattended and my attempts to contact the staff futile. Despite numerous calls and complaints to Oyo head office, their ”handler” couldn’t even reach even at 10 am. The incompetence displayed by the staff, coupled with their refusal to accommodate me despite being aware of my situation, is utterly unacceptable.

I slept outside in the Cold until I could find alternative accommodation the next day.

To add insult to injury, their audacity to subsequently refuse me a refund because I didn't check in before their arbitrary "10 pm" deadline is beyond belief. It's clear they have no regard for customer satisfaction or decency. This is not how things are done in England. This is not how hospitality is supposed to be. I am seething with anger at their blatant disregard for basic standards.

I urge everyone to steer clear of this place. They are nothing but con artists preying on unsuspecting guests. This establishment is a disgrace to the hospitality industry, and I am filled with rage knowing that they are allowed to operate. I am not just leaving a scathing review; I am actively pursuing a chargeback with my bank. Health and safety need to pay them a visit too. Enough is enough.

Absolute disgraceful service from pulling into the car park. Seeing fence panels broken and render falling off walls. Went to reception which smelt of damp and mould growth on the walls. The receptionist didn’t know how he had booked our rooms. Whilst the receptionist prepared the rooms we were asked to stand out in the cold and rain with two Law Enforcement officers who were there to see the hotel owner. Went into one of the rooms and the toilet and shower was dirty. Ply socket hanging off the wall. The other room the floor boards lofted as you walked across the room. One floor board leading to the shower lifted above the rest of floor which created a trip hazard. There was no heating in the shower and lights didn’t work properly. Stains in the toilet and curly hair on the shower tray Ewwww!! Wardrobe fell over when you hung your clothes and tv was fitted at an angle. Stain on bed sheet. The icing on the cake that I’m 5;10 and my feet hungover the end of the bed. They advertised on the website restuarant but no restuarant to be seen and was directed to the local kebab shop. We handed our keys back within 20 mins and the only acknowledgement we got from reception was from the law enforcement officer whom was trying to collect funds. For those of you who don’t want to waste 20 minutes of your life and £300 ready this warning and do not stay here. Absolute disgrace of management and hygiene standards…. ABSOLUTE DUMP!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the rooms were being refurbished during my visit and the en-suite in my room had recently been refurbished. The bathroom was excellent and a good nights sleep despite being close to the A1.
