What a lovely suprise this hotel is. It is under going improvements currently but this did not impact on our stay. Megan in the bar was really friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we we welcome. The food in the bar was great with some nice options. Rooms were good standard and really quiet. Great location with free parking and check out at 11am in morning. All the staff make it feel like a lovely small family run hotel.

I rang on the off chance to book a room instead of travelling on to Essex. From the phone call you were met with a lovely friendly reception from Danielle. Same on arriving, we stayed in a King room and also ordered breakfast at £10 each. The place was once very grand and is going through a refurbishment. You could see the carpets were worm but it had charm it didnt spoil it for us. We had drinks in the lounge, we had a great nights sleep and the breakfast we faultless. We will stay again, Danielle was excellent and a gem, also the lady that served us breakfast so friendly and looked after us, thank you. Great stay!

Arrived to a grubby looking hotel, car park worn, bushes overgrown.|Entered reception area and it smells old and dusty, one elderly woman on check in desk who was too busy on her phone for the first 30 seconds.|Didn’t inform me about breakfast so had to ask, no evening food at the hotel and she described to me the directions of kfc and Burger King.|Got to the room on the ground floor down a corridor. Room was big and spacious however that’s the only positive.|Carpet and curtains are from the 90’s furniture looked grubby, tv was dusty.|Ancient telephone and hairdryer in room and trouser press.|Shower room had mould around the seals, no plug in sink. Shower is powerful and hot but towels are like sandpaper.|Bed is too soft but at least the spread looks clean. No idea what the mattress is like, I’d sooner not look!

The potential of the Urban would rate a five star experience, however the reality is a very damp, musty, tired and dated place to stay! No lock on the door, no fridge in room, no plug in sink! No pillow or mattress protectors on the bed, no rubbish bin in room, the basics should be covered! The staff were friendly on reception but lacked enthusiasm and seeing the hotel, I wasn’t surprised! On one of the nights, the reception was manned by a person covering for his friend who didn’t work at the hotel!! while his friend was either on a break or elsewhere in hotel! The reputation from people in the area isn’t great and I will definitely be staying elsewhere in future! Probably my car as it’s more hygienic and has all the essentials this hotel lacked!

The staff were friendly but the hotel is very run down. The carpet was very worn through in places, the bin hadn't been emptied since the last person used the room and the phone was filthy.

The worst bit was the "king" bed. It was actually two worn singles with mental edges so the middle of the bed was like the Berlin Wall

The bed was comfortable 👍but the rest not , you have to pre order breakfast cost £10 each ,not worth it ordered yogart did not arrive they had none 😫 only tea and coffee no herbal teas no sweetness, breakfast not quite what ordered missing parts oh no hot water for tea and coffee. Breakfast arrived sausage tasteless scrabble eggs inedible beans cold toast non toasted so not good . Told sorry cook on his own . So in summing up if you just want a bed 🛌 it's OK. Mentioned disappointment about breakfast to reception reply cook was on his own. Definitely not 4stars

If you're just looking for somewhere to sleep, then this is the place,I'm not saying that in a bad way as the hotel is under néw management and going through a massive refurbishment ,most of the facilities are unavailable but it was a lovely place to stay and the Staff were very helpful, courteous and polite, they dealt with any issues I had very quickly

A bed for the night in a room that smelt of smoke! Place is very dated and most services not open as undef refurb... not sure why that means you can't get a glass of water in the bar, though! Pool closed etc
Did what we needed for the night, but certainly won't rush back!
