Clean and nice steam room and swimming pool. I booked a stay in Best Western hotel to visit Urban SPA. I was travelling from London to receive a full experience including other treatments. Unfortunately masseur was sick and no replacement, that was a disappointment.

This review is for the floatation therapy at this Spa. Firstly, as I was pinged by test and trace i had to move my booking with them which they did fairly and did not charge. A Good start! As I used to float regularly pre pandemic I was keen to give this a try as it is much more local. Its more expensive that my previous centre, however, the price is still competitive at £40 for one hour.
On arrival I filled in a short form and was immediately taken to the float room which appeared to be an old bedroom that has been extremely tastefully converted into an attractive float area with a double shower. As I say, I float regularly so my review needs to be broken down into the positives and negatives of this experience. The positives were that the float pool had clearly plenty of money spent on it making it a 'luxury' feel. The shower was good, although it did not drain properly and quickly filled up. The quality and amount of salts makes a huge difference to the float experience and in this case they had added a good amount of quality salt. The twinkly led stars on the roof was a nice touch for those who like that and a water dispenser was next to the pool itself which, although a nice idea, meant it naturally tasted salty.
Ok, the negatives - FAR too noisy! There was a very noisy air conditioning unit which was impossible to ignore even with ear plugs and my head under water. The fan tended to cut out with a loud clunk, and appeared to regulate the air temperature. The downside of this is one tended to be either warm or cool, and anyone who floats regularly for a meditative experience would know that you need to remove sensation of temperature, light and sound as well as gravity to make that effective. There was no neck support provided, although in fairness I should have brought my own because of the pandemic it isn't a good idea to share. There was a too much light in the room and there didn't seem to be a way to shut off the light in the pool either. There were toilets on site, but these were not in the room so you would have use them before you go and shower.
In summary, if what you want is to experience floating on water in a warm and cosy environment, this is great. But if, like me, you actually use floatation as a meditative therapy to slow down your mind and just be, this is too noisy, too light and too temperature variable. If they succeed with this I think their simple solution to please both types of people who like to float would be to add a pod. Or provide a pair of noise cancelling waterproof headphones!
