Vaults & Garden is not exactly a hidden gem (as evident by over 1,000 reviews), but it feels that way. You feel like you are back to school (in the best way possible).

They have a good selection for breakfast. Their house breakfast and rarebit are highly recommended, as they are both tasty and well-prepared. The tea selection is also noteworthy.

The dining area is charming and cozy, reminiscent of a "Harry Potter-esque" setting but not too glamorous.

Many patrons have expressed their willingness to return when they visit Oxford again.

Recommendation

For those seeking a delightful dining experience with a charming atmosphere, Vaults & Garden should not be missed. Be sure to check out their website for more information or to make a reservation. Not exactly a hidden gem (as is evident by +1k reviews here), but it kinda felt that way. You’d feel like you are back to school (in the best way possible).
They have good selection for breakfast. We got their house breakfast, which was really good and tasty, and the rarebit, which did look unassuming but packed a good punch. Their tea had a good selection too.
They have a really cute dining area (think a “harry potteresque” situation, but not too glamorous).
Definitely will come back when we visit Oxford again.

I had a great and hearty meal here yesterday. It's an excellent and sustainable cafe serving delicious and healthy foods using high-quality ingredients.
Love the historical interior of this place as well.

Great spot for breakfast, found by my wife when searching for one, and was glad we came by as it’s also a monumental spot for tourists in Oxford 👍🏻

The outdoor seats were cosy and had good views of the peaceful surroundings.

The queue to get the food was rather long, having been seated outside for 20 minutes before my wife and her friend came out with coffee and a tag for our food to be delivered to us (which wasn’t long).

🍞 bread was good, we enjoyed that small plate of goodness with the largest baked beans we ever seen - though omelette was slightly over salted

Scones were alright, a little too easy to break and hence wasn’t my favourite, there’s also not much flavour to it too.

A great spot for breakfast for sure, before taking the flights up the church for the views or just entering the serenity of the church 👍🏻

Very good place for reasonable price.

We took beef mexican, tea and scone.
Everything was tasty. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Overall the place seems pretty busy, especially during the weekend.

Lovely little nook in the basement of an old church. One of the coolest places in Oxford location-wise to have a meal.
Food is tasty and reasonably priced. I’ve enjoyed the carrot and red lentil soup, vegan Oxford breakfast, and fruit scone. Given that the vegan breakfast is the same price as the non vegan one and has food taken out (e.g., eggs, sausage), I felt like it could have included more of the beans and veggies. My portion of beans was just a handful of beans. But flavor wise it was delicious. Especially the bread! Their homemade scone was also fantastic.
Drink-wise I tried their teas and chai latte and did not find them great.
Service is friendly but unhurried. Prepare to wait to order, and if you’re in a hurry, avoid lunch, especially around noon.
