More of a community hub, than a hotel.
Locals must absolutely love it, and the owners quite pleased for their business.

But this hotel is nothing like any other hotel I've ever stayed in.

It's more like a social club, sports bar, and leisure centre, with rooms attached than a Hotel.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, but I'd rather they were punching the information on the check-in screen, than talking me through it. The whole process was slower and less convenient than it would be if we just checked in like with a normal hotel, and they keyed in the details.

The rooms are a decent in size, and the bathroom is good especially the shower which is excellent. Although our extractor fan appeared not to work and the bathroom got exceedingly steamy and the mirror impossible to use, even showering with the door closed.

The rooms do seem to be badly planned, particularly where it comes to hanging space and, most importantly, lighting. The rooms are really dingy, some of the darkest I have ever been in.

This wasn't improved by the view out of the window which was of huge industrial looking ventilation equipment for the swimming pool underneath.

It all gave me the feel like residents in the hotel were more of an afterthought, and the majority of the business focused on locals using the leisure facilities and the bar etc. Which is fair enough if that's where their business is, but it does make people staying for leisure or functions like we were a little alienated, and less at ease.

Far from being calm and relaxed, the lobby and restaurant area is quite busy and noisy, again nothing like any hotel I've been in before.

These areas appear to be populated mainly by locals, non-resident to the hotel.

Stayed at the Village Hotel Maidstone for the weekend 6-8 Feb 2025. We were greeted as always by the lovely Aneta. She is always so welcoming and she makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. Our room was nice and clean, the bed is always lush, and in the main got a good service by all staff. We love this hotel as it’s only 45 mins from home but feels like we are getting away. If you like sport this hotel is for you, as the main bar has tv’s all round it. We have stayed loads of times and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

I am not someone who writes on any neg reviews however had horrible experience trying to get into gym area.
Me and my husband were trying to look around gym and swimming area just to get better idea of area prior getting on gear , however we had a lady in gym corner very rudely questioning “where are you going “ making us obviously awkward.
Was very excited for swimming but Not very pleased with it early morning .

I arrived at Village Hotel Maidstone early so that I could experience their gym and spa facilities and wasn’t disappointed. ||After a healthy lunch in Village Bar and Grill I proceeded to use the gym, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Sauna was a little hot for my liking but not the hottest experience at the hotel. More on that later. ||In the evening I met a friend for dinner and drinks and when they left I decided to sample the nightlife of Maidstone. Taxis were aplenty at the hotel and it was a short trip into town. ||I sampled a few bars before settling in to a nice wine bar. ||Whilst there I met a very lovely lady and although the music was too loud to allow for conversation we agreed to carry on our evening at the hotel. ||When we realised it was too late for her to return home I offered her to stay in my room but on the condition that we constructed a ‘pillow wall’ down the centre of the bed. ||Unfortunately Village Hotels had not provided the correct type of pillows, not enough of them, to make the construction. ||The result of this was an incredible night but one where neither of us managed to get any sleep. It is for this reason I give Village Hotels Maidstone five stars.

I’ve stayed here a few times and always find it very convenient. Check in is super quick and easy, Naomi on the front desk was really helpful last time I stayed.

The facilities are great, atmosphere is always pleasant and always handy having Starbucks nearby.

Will happily stay again

Had a lovely afternoon today at the village. We tried the new darts board with the mum in law for a belated Mother’s Day. We had a fun afternoon and a lovely meal. The guy who looked after us today was Ben he was so helpful and friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. We will be back. Thank you

Great location and staff are always friendly and helpful. Stayed in room 228 and I would advise against as there is an office across and clearly the staff using that think it’s ok to use walkie talkies loudly on Sunday morning at 7.30am and then talk loudly at 6.30am. Nothing worse than being wakened before your alarm. Other guests also were a little disrespectful but that’s not the hotels fault. Shower was abysmal. Trickled out and wasn’t very hot but you couldn’t increase the temperature as it trickled even more. People just need to be more aware of their surroundings and have a little more respect for others. Being away from home isn’t always fun but it would be good if it was comfortable and relaxing. Never had any issues at this hotel before so hoping it was just a one-off.

We stayed overnight with our children. Our room had a rubbish view of a flat roof but was not overlooked. We enjoyed the pool and gym although we had to pay extra to use these facilities, which was annoying. We walked to the fab beefeater next door for food as the hotel bar had football on and looked busy with children running wild. The staff were friendly, we all slept well and the breakfast was really nice here. The hotel was easy to get to, easy to book and we had free parking. We didnt like all the emails regarding booking and using the app it was too much, but we would recommend this hotel to others visiting maidstone because of the location to the lovely river walk nearby and overall we enjoyed our stay.
