I was planning to stay here in 2 days but they CANCELLED my stay OUT OF BLUE on Airbnb.com. They didn't give me alternative plans for the cancellation and a reasonable reason to explain what had happened.

The room is still on listing but is more expensive than expected.

Honestly a lovely hotel right in the centre of town. Nice and clean modern rooms, 24hr reception desk and helpful staff. For Ā£49 you really can’t complain. Loved my stay. Shower was really nice e and the beds were comfortable. Safe place to stay

Booking made months in advance for a 3 night stay as visiting for a family wedding. Payment taken 5 days before arrival. Reservation cancelled 3 days before arrival! Unable to contact hotel by phone despite trying multiple times as voicemail box full. Family member attended venue to discuss, can't discuss bookings on site. No response to messages sent to hotel. Still awaiting a refund. Do not book with this hotel unless willing to risk it being cancelled at last minute.

Start off with the good; Hastings is brilliant. Tons to do; sea, castles, history, pubs, live music, amazing places to eat. We stayed for the bank holiday May weekend and that is THE best time to go to Hastings. There’s a multitude of May festival type activities and event involving ā€œGreen Jackā€- google to see for yourself. The hotel, based right in the heart of Hastings. It’s super close to the action, and we had direct access to all shops. Phenomenal service at the hotel, lovely staff. |So now onto the more concerning side of things: |1. When we arrived, there were around 20 other guests lining up outside the hotel. We all arrived at 3 PM and the hotel staff explained ā€œ27 people have arrived to check in at the same timeā€. We didn’t have to wait long, and my full name was called out alongside my hotel room number in front of around 20 complete strangers. Please do not do this. This is a data breach and very, very very unsafe. |2. If you stay here, you are sleeping above a pub, across from a pub and next to a taxi rank. We could not sleep for the two nights. The room faces onto the main road and the bar opposite is open till 3 am on Saturdays. We heard fights, ambulances and shouting till 4 am. Please take this into consideration before your stay, I would not suggest booking if you have a child or vulnerable person with you. It can sound quite scary at night. |3. No WiFi available in room. The location of this particular room in the hotel, results in not service or WiFi connectivity. It’s the last room right on the end of the floor. We tried, both my partner and myself have different networks, but couldn’t connect. Not ideal if you have to message someone or call in emergency. Often we had to walk down and outside to connect. The tv in the room does not connect. There’s just no signal. |4. The building is boiling. In the room, you have a small gap of window. There’s no chance of opening it any wider. It was so hot, we ventured out as much as possible. Please be mindful for Summer. |5. Bring around 4 to 8 litres of water. It very dry and dusty, we came in just dust everywhere. There’s a shop across the way so you can pick up a couple of bits in there. |So, in conclusion Hastings an amazing place. This isn’t what it’s advertised and just be mindful of where you book.

Avoid this hotel if you like to be left alone. We entered with our clothes smelling of a log burner from being of grid. We were constantly hassled by staff making out we were smoking in the room. We wasn't smoking in their. We ended up cutting short our week of the booking so they gained 3 nights of income for free and they still proceeded to try and charge us for more money. When trying to check in we were messed around from the start| We were told from reception their is 2 companies in the building and they couldn't with no number. The reception called the guy to check us in. Very clicky. Would not recommend

Good things ||Location is close to town ||Rooms and hotel is very modern and impressive and clean. |||Bad things ||Firstly when checking in the hotel there was no one on the desk so we waited outside and tried to call the number on the door for 10 minutes even though we had provided a rough check in time - this theme continued and we didn’t really ever see anyone on the desk - when we needed something the staff were very nice but often forgot to bring the items to us or said they didn’t know where it was and to ask the other staff.||We were asked if we had visited before when we checked in and said no, the staff didn’t explain anything after we signed and just said ā€œthere’s this laminated stuff in your room to read throughā€ once we had smiled and said ok they left reception and went back up to another office ||First night on the hotel we turned on the tv at 8pm and were met with banging on the wall and then the door banging and someone telling us to keep down our noise as her children were asleep. We felt awful but this was something that happened more than once and more than on one night so we didn’t bother to have the volume on after that as it didn’t matter what we did she banged and we just crept around the room whispering as it seemed any sort of noise we made we were met with the same thing from this resident. ||The WiFi never worked In Our room and reception was poor so we couldn’t watch tv and seems like after 10 the WiFi is switched offwe ended up using our phones with our own WiFi and signal (when it worked again very poor signal) - and again on silent with subtilies so we didn’t get any more knocks on the door.. ||We noticed the hotel houses a lot of people in emergency housing, this isn’t a problem for us except we were often met with a lot of weird looks and people out right asking us if we lived there..and if we were just staying there why? |We do feel this should have maybe been mentioned to us before we booked as this was uncomfortable at times. ||The bed was so hard in our room I found it really hard to sleep at night and the covers and pillows were not supportive or thick enough… I feel this is very important when booking in anywhere - a good rights sleep is always needed when travelling. ||The towels in our room had makeup and bodily stains on them we asked for another towel and asked if we needed to bring the other down and were told to just leave it in the room which we weren’t really happy with but just folded it and put it away, we didn’t want to make a fuss. ||The outside of the building is near Yates and Wetherspoons etc, we were fine with this and quite looking forward to it until we realised the number of junkies and crack heads that would come up to us outside as soon as we left the property and ask us for money or if we had anything to drink on us - really uncomfortable.||The room didn’t have a thermostat as stated and instead had a radiator which we weren’t sure how to use as there was no instructions. It managed to get it to work in the end - this might be something for the hotel to consider in the future? ||and there was no instructions for the cooker or microwave which we feel there maybe should have been as well as these can be confusing. ||Overall this is probably the worst stay we’ve ever had. We’ve always booked great rooms and places with booking.com.||Yes the hotel is aesthetically pleasing to look at, and over all the rooms are clean but it comes with the negatives above, which in my opinion is simply not worth it at all.

Received an automated message to say our booking was cancelled due to ā€˜works’ three days before we were due to check in on probably the busiest weekend in Hastings all summer. Really unbelievable, no email or even a personally addressed message. No one answering phones and voice mail full, so no way of finding out about a refund. Don’t ever book here, truly awful service.

Can't really write a review for the quality of the hotel. Booked it some months back as visiting Hastings for a surprise birthday party on the 14th February. Booked it through hotels.com and on the 12th I recieved an email saying the property cancelled this reservation at my request. Knowing that I had not cancelled I immediately called VIVE and explained. The lady who I spoke to said, she was just about to call me as they had a plumbing issue and had no other rooms for the Saturday. When I pointed out it was the Friday, she said that it wouldn't be a problem, she would reinstate the booking and we'd get an email. 24 hours passed and nothing. I phoned VIVE three times at this point, each time my call was unanswered!!
