We stayed at Crows Hall, which is separate from the other modern lodges in a secluded location just off the main Wakes Hall site.
The Hall is a good blend of period (grade II listed) features and modern facilities (smart TVs and fast Internet) which is clean and comfortable (beds were comfortable for us).
Crows hall has a pretty and well maintained quiet; private garden with hot tub and seating area with sun loungers.
Five stars from us based on overall value and service.

Our 3rd or 4th year it’s such a spotless lodge; had every thing you need : it teemed down with rain one day so had to spend day in lodge. , we amused ourselves. But we wished we’d took a game or two , bedding was comfortable. Love the pillows . So great to have en- suite in each room .|Shower was great too. As I have mobility problems it was a bonus to see a shower stool & shower mat . Such a lovely gesture of a welcome basket .|We even had a Tesco shopping delivered .|Great walks for dog nearby . Privacy when in hot tub with bushes in between each lodge |Fantastic place for relaxing holiday |Pity each lodge from back entrance haven’t got lodge name on |We had people walking up steps to enter the lodge then realised it wasn’t the lodge they rented lol. That’s no problem. If they closed the gate behind them .lol |Now have air conditioning in each room . Tv in each room. We never used ,|Very spacious rooms x

Wow! What can I say. It’s our second day here and it’s beautiful. Clean, everything you need. Lovely welcome hamper. Home from home. We have booked again for September. Hot tub is lovely. Totally private and peaceful place!! Absolutely perfect!!!

Think this was our 5th visit. Each time our expectations have been surpassed by the exceptionally high standards. The setting is perfect. Walking round the lake with our dog is a great way to start to the day. The lodge was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Nice and warm and cosy. We were there to celebrate my wife’s 40th Birthday this time and as such I had a couple of extra requests. Jordan and Charlotte went above and beyond to accommodate this and couldn’t have been more helpful. We’re already looking at dates to visit again. Thank you 🙂

We stayed in the Ramson Lodge and it was an absolutely beautiful place to be. It was very spacious, modern, luxurious and calming.
The extra touches on arrival were very thoughtful including a basket of useful items including jams, bread and cereal. We really appreciated them.
Both Jordan and Steve were incredibly helpful during our stay. They even updated our TV whilst we were there! They were so friendly and accommodating.
Sitting outside in the morning with a cuppa watching the deer and pheasants was wonderful. I think we even saw a hare! A great place to get away if you love nature.
Great location if you have young children as Colchester zoo is short drive as well as a railway museum. We visited Poplar Nurseries and went on their mini train which definitely entertained our toddler.
I would recommend taking your own travel cot mattress if you choose to use the travel cot as the base board is quite hard as it's all that's allowed to be provided by law.

Our second time staying her and just booked our third! We love coming here to get away from the stresses of life. We always bring our little doggy Ted who loves the countryside walks and all the different sounds and smells! The lodge is very well equipped. Very clean and tidy. You’re literally not missing anything. Bumpy road to get to it but once your here, you feel like your in the middle of nowhere. There’s a beautiful lake and the grounds are well kept. Any communication I’ve had with the staff has been professional and accommodating. |Thank you wakes hall lodges for giving us our escape!

We had a really lovely time at Wakes Hall Lodges. The accommodation itself is superb, and the hot tub is just the icing on the cake. We were seriously impressed with the lodge itself, the surrounding countryside and walks, and dealing with the staff who were friendly, kind and courteous. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
