Really nice people who look after you. Real castle. Ask for the dungeon tour at reception. Lovely food and a very laid back atmosphere. Good parking area . Decent gardens although more of a green area. More of an adult hotel not a great deal for younger children to do. But lots of nice places to visit round about. Felt really off the beaten path but actually central. Places to visit Barnard castle, Bowes museum, Durham a little further. Lots of interesting places locally.

The staff here are so friendly & enthusiastic they make you feel relaxed & welcome. Well done Ashley for organising your staff so well. We were here for 5 nights with a tour group and during that time the food was fabulous every night. Perfectly cooked, piping hot and very plentiful. Wines are nice but usual hotel prices. Breakfast is another delight - freshly cooked to order. Rooms were comfortable and my only minor moan would be the wacky design of the bathroom in room 9 - the hand basin has a window behind it so the only mirror for shaving is behind the bathroom door. However, this is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in my many many years of hotel stays. If only more hotels could operate with Walworth Castle's level of customer attitude. We would really go out of our way to stay here again.

It's a lovely old historic castle/hotel. Set in a beautiful quiet area. Arrival was friendly. All the staff are great and hard working.

The hotel is spotless inside and outside grounds.

But I just don't love it and that's because of the room. It's small, very far from the main reception for a disabled traveller (the last room in the West Wing). The soundproofing isn't good. Lacks a few items like a fridge and a safe.

But on the positive, it's clean, has a great shower and a comfortable bed and you have access to a pillow menu.

You have a reasonably priced breakfast, drinks and dinner price all very reasonably priced for a Hotel.

Overall we loved the Castle Hotel but we didn't love the room.

I would still recommend the hotel but that you book a Castle Room (which I thought I did but that's not on the hotel it is between me and the booking platform).

Myself and my wife stayed for two nights and I can't recommend this place enough the staff are lovely the rooms are clean and large the fact it's haunted didn't bother us but never seen or heard any while we were there. The food in restaurant was absolutely superb I would give more than five stars in all categories if I could. A great find

What a fantastic place, on gorgeous ground with staff that put their all into customer service. Ashley is amazing, listen to her choice of wine! This is the second time we have stayed here and to be honest it will not be the last. ||We had room 30, which is spacious to say the least.||The food is lovely, tasty and filling. Even the prices in the bar are reasonable .||Highly recommend

Cannot recommend highly enough. This is a beautiful castle dating back to 1189 and was used by James I (VI) on his way to be crowned and to unite the crowns of Scotland and England. It's been a home, hospital during the war, girls school and now a hotel. It's passed is still evident within its walls, and for those who like to reach a bit deeper can provide an exciting experience. Staff are outstanding and a real credit to the Castle, many with decades of service. Food is incredible and the price is very appealing, as you get so much for so little. We will definitely be back

We recently held the 40th Anniversary celebrations of our Family History Society at Walworth Castle Hotel. This has been in the planning for two years and I can honestly say that the staff at Walworth have gone above and beyond to help us from day one of contacting them by email to the weekend of the event. In this time we have dealt with three different Event Managers seamlessly and in the final few months also with Unsal the General Manager. I can't recommend this place enough for your event or for overnight stays. The food is amazing, the staff from bottom to top are fantastic and the building is beautiful. Thank you to Unsal and your amazing team for making our weekend event so special!

Room was larger with a view of the gardens.
The hotel is steeped in history with bags of character. The food was excellent in the evening,All freshly made with quality ingredients. The staff were excellent too, welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable about the fascinating history.
