The Warrens Farm Bed and Breakfast in Yeoford, Devon, located in a 16th century farmhouse, has to be one of the nicest, most memorable bed and breakfasts where I have ever stayed, partly because of the quaint location, wonderful atmosphere and superb meals and partly because of Winnie, the friendly and gracious hostess and excellent cook. My sister and brother-in-law who have challenges going up and down stairs stayed in a spacious room on the ground floor with adjoining bathroom. I had a very nice clean room with private bath on the second floor (referred to as the first floor in the U.K.). It had everything I needed including a very comfortable bed and shower with strong water pressure. The delicious breakfasts, of which there were many choices, took place in a lovely dining room with wood-burning fireplace. An award-winning pub, The Duck at Yeoford, is just a 5-minute walk away. Also, if you make arrangements in advance you can book Winnie to prepare a mouthwatering multi-course dinner for you. One night she prepared roast beef and all the trimmings for us which included an apple crumble dessert with apples from her own trees that she hand picked that day. My sister was willing to drive in the hedgerows of Devon but the faint-hearted or those who would like to leave the car behind can reach the Warrens Farm Bed and Breakfast by train. We stayed five nights but it would be great for a weekend getaway too. If you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere and reasonably priced accommodation with great food the Warrens Farms Bed and Breakfast is an excellent choice.

During our five day stay in Devon, we wanted to stay in a real English home in a real English village, not a modern hotel. After researching options, we chose this bed and breakfast at the small village of Yeoford. Our experience far surpassed our wildest expectations. We are senior citizens and I am a bit handicapped. We were given a first floor bedroom and bath and I had no trouble with physical limitations. The guest part of the house is set off from the owner's living area which allows privacy for both guests and owners. The farmhouse was built in 1598 and is in excellent shape. Winnie our hostess (who is Belgian by birth but grown to love her English home) was delightful. She is very adept at knowing when to talk and when to give space. She went far above and beyond to make us comfortable. She is an excellent cook and offers a varied breakfast menu. Be sure to try her homemade jams. It is possible to book her for an evening meal if she is available. She coked us a full English dinner with a chicken vol au vent starter, roast beef main, green beans, mashed swede, carrots, spinach, broccoli-leeks-white-cabbage-in-sauce, and apple crumble. The meal was fit for a king. When we weren't eating at Winnie's, we would stroll down to The Duck Pub which was chosen as best destination pub in Devon for 2023. Be sure to get reservations as people come from all over to eat there. We left our car parked at the farm and hired a tour guide to take us around. Devon has 33 thousand miles of hedgerows to drive through. Not everyone is comfortable driving through them. Don't let that keep you from this bed and breakfast. While Yeoford is off the beaten path and reached by car by driving through hedgerows, the railroad station comes right into Yeoford so that it is easy to catch the train to and from the village and one does not need to have a car to stay here. Tucked in the corner of the property is a charming pond. One evening, we sat by the pond, looked around the green meadow and just relaxed. The sun was setting. The air was fresh and clean. The birds were singing. Then we walked down to the Pub past the thatched roof village homes with brightly colored flowers spilling from window boxes as the hills glowed golden with the last rays of light. Yes, it definitely felt as we were in the middle of a heartwarming English movie.

If your thinking of having a peaceful, fulfilling break away, look no further! I have just spent my sixth break at Warrens Farm. I am never disappointed. Excellent accommodation, comfy beds, terrific breakfast ...... nothing is too much trouble for Winnie and Richard in the lovely surroundings of their Devon long house. Do drive there vis Cheriton Bishop, just off the A30. The road in from Crediton has some nasty potholes, but then they are very where in the UK!! To those who follow, ENJOYa

After the excellent welcome from Richard, we settled in quickly to our adjoining large bedrooms on the first floor. Mine had a particularly large bathroom with a particularly good shower and I especially liked the little touches like a basket of fresh towels, luxury toiletries etc. |The bed and bedlinen were to die for, really comfortable and conducive to an excellent night's sleep.|Communication with Winnie before the stay was excellent and she had explained that Anne would make our breakfast as she was away that day. Anne's breakfast was lovely and fresh fruit, orange juice, cereals and coffee were all on offer plus I chose bacon, eggs and tomatoes from a comprehensive list.|Yeoford is a very pretty village which has a train station and an absolutely gorgeous gastro pub - The Duck at Yeoford, which you can stagger down the hill to in a couple of minutes!|The situation of the farmhouse is pretty . rural , set in beautiful gardens yet close to the village

Visiting family nearby, so it was a convenient choice, but Oh, was it so much more when I got there!||It's a beautiful location overlooking the village and hills beyond. The house was built in the "Year Dot" when Noah was a lad. You will be greeted by the charming lady of the house called Winnie and you feel instantly at ease. Nothing, you will find, is too much trouble.||Went to Drogo Castle (NT) just up the road a bit.||My room was on the ground floor, through the dining room next to the jigsaw room ( I can lay claim to completing the State Crown on the Jubilee puzzle). The room was clean, tidy and had everything you would need.||It's quite chilly, the first week of October, so Winnie provided a little heater should I want to use it.||Comfy bed.||Breakfast was served in the lovely dining room in front of a blazing log fire. I had visions of Miss Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters sitting there. Breakfast was delicious and proper coffee in a cafetiere.||I can safely say you won't be disappointed.

Winnie is a great host. My room was spotlessly clean & the bed comfortable, albeit softer than I like. Tasty breakfast. Location worked for me being only a few minutes walk from the station. I stayed for 3 nights & will be going back!
