An excellent venue for a mens golf society on a budget.|This 1990,s hotel has large meeting/bar area,s. good sized bedrooms, comfortable beds, with a well filled hospitality room tray, |Negatives,No wi fi in bedrooms, distinct lack of hot water, heated towel rail in bedroom not working. No controlled room heating or cooling. Premier inn/Travel lodge rooms I rate at 9/10. My wensum room 6/10.||Simple 4 option starters, mains, puddings choice for our group. All very good and|enjoyed by everyone|Buffet type breakfast (mains being served) was again very good, could not fault it.||Golf courses very challenging for a group of seasoned golfers, and generally in very good condition (could be extremely wet and unplayable in the winter months).||Large, well stocked Pro shop, driving range ect.||We found all the staff were helpful, friendly, accommodating. hard working and they were the biggest asset to this hotel. We hope the owners will be able to invest some money in a future program of refurbishment of the rooms.||We all agreed that we would be happy to return again next year. Well done all.

The room was large with all the necessary facilities. The TV was small for the room size, and I struggled to see the screen from the bed! The room was clean and well maintained. Bit of a problem with the radiator, which seemed blocked. Luckily, it was a mild week. A receptionist and later the general manager made personal efforts to rectify the problem.

We couldn't fault the staff who seemed genuine in their affects to make sure we enjoyed our stay. From Room Service team to Reception to restaurant team, all seemed happy in their work. It was nice to be greeted with a genuine smile

Lovely friendly receptionist when we arrived. Looked after our luggage while we played our first round of golf. Friendly chaps in the Pro Shop.||We stayed in room 17 which overlooked the outdoor seating area. ||This room has good WiFi, which a lot of rooms don’t have.||Good sized twin bedded room with a nice en-suite and walk in large shower, ||You only get wall mounted body/hand wash provided.||Tea and coffee making facilities are provided.||As others have said, no towel rail for your wet towel, no bottled water, no drinking glasses. ||Our golf deal included breakfast and a 3 course evening meal.||Overall, it was the food that let our experience down.||We preordered, prawn cocktail, chicken fricassee, mushroom and leek stroganoff, cheese and biscuits. Soup, sea bass, lemon tart.||The prawn cocktail is very small. The vegetable soup was pretty tasteless. The sea bass had a herb crusted topping . This was on the skin side, something I’ve never seen done before.||The fish was ok but herb topping very salty.||The chicken dish just looked anaemic and did not have much taste.||Vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Red cabbage that did not go with any of our dishes and was over flavoured with cinnamon and vinegary.||Desserts were fine.||Our evening meal was like a race to get us out of the restaurant. ||As one dish went the next appeared. We actually asked the waitresses twice to slow down. Had we not, we would have had all 3 courses in less than 30 minutes, it was that quick. ||Sunday evening, the restaurant was very quiet at 7.15 (table of 4 and 8 plus our 4) and we just got the feeling the waitresses wanted us gone. ||Breakfast, usual cereals, toast, pastries, tinned fruit cocktail, yogurt, self serve tea and coffee. The waitress takes your hot food offer. Sausages not good quality and mushrooms tinned.|| No hot option for vegetarians. The lady in our party, who was vegetarian, asked if she could just have a banana, but apparently they have no bananas, the waitress said they didn’t have any fresh fruit. ||They don’t appear to cater for dietary requirements, gluten free, lactose, etc. No options are advertised. ||The upside was we thoroughly enjoyed the two golf courses.||Ladies, there is a portable toilet on the courses but the one we went to use on the Valley course was absolutely filthy. Not new filth either.||We paid £99 each for this one night break. I certainly would not have been happy if we had paid more. ||This place needs some investment in the bedrooms and someone with a catering background to sample the food that is served.||I hope this feedback is viewed as constructive, this venue could be so much better.

As part of an annual golf trip amongst friends we chose this venue and hotel. The golf course was very good and the quality in autumn was good. The accommodation however was very poor. We all felt coming up the 18th fairway that we were looking at an office block with converted accommodation. It was very budget rooms were clean but extremely outdated and very basic. The walls were thin and rooms noisy. We also had no hot water and I had to go to three separate areas, my room, the golf changing room and health club to have a warm shower. I never got a warm shower all three locations had lukewarm warm water. The food was ok but basic. The staff were friendly and helpful so as long as expectations are not high this is value for a golf weekend, but wouldn’t recommend purely as a hotel

We recently attended our Am Dram society ball. We have attended lots of these in the past and were not overly hopeful about the food that we had ordered several months ago however it was absolutely faultless hot and tasty and so was the breakfast the following day also served and cleared promptly. 10 out of 10 . thank you Wensum Lodge, we had a great time .

We held a small celebration of life here on 28th of January. The food and teas that were provided were set out perfectly. The bar was not attended at all times but this was understandable and staff were quick to respond when they were aware someone was waiting. All staff we spoke with were polite friendly and accommodating. The room was large and was cold in places but the heating was on and it was a very cold day outside so perhaps it was hard to maintain heat given the size of the area. Some background music at a low level was a nice touch. Thankyou to emma and her team for a well organised day the location is stunning,

Food was wholesome and tasty - we had the roast dinner which was ace. Breakfast was also substantial. Our room was a family one just for the 2 of us and it had a decent tv, hot shower and a view of the golf course. Good value for money and I assume excellent if you play golf!!
