Our first visit here since the total makeover of Wharton Park. Wow! It's now a beautiful place to relax and wander around. We had our 4 Yr lod granddaughter with us and she loved it. There's play areas for the kids, info for the older folk regarding the history of the park. Fantastic views of Durham, it's Cathedral and Castle. There's parking and a lovely cafe. Perfect for a couple of hours relaxing. We recommend a visit.

I visited the park for the first time after the renovation. Some of it is still in progress. Wharton park has always been one of my favourites and is getting better. It is a nice place for a stroll in the middle of Durham and offers a great view of the cathedral and city on a clear day. The heritage cafe is a bit limited in its offerings that's the only down side.

Very nice place, but as always, parks spend a bit of money on it, and get greedy and start charging for parking. I know its just a few pounds, but still, we used to go more when it was quieter (less packed) and the parking was free. Still, u can't have it all ways. Great views of the railway bridge and cathedral

A great place made better in recent years, for children and adults alike. I've been going to Wharton Park for nearly 50 years. I love it. The star that's missing is for how steep it is in places, and the number of steps there are to climb as I get older 😊

A nice, clean, and convenient cafe after a walk round the grounds. The park is a nice place to be and is well kept, it is a little hidden gem in a lovely location.

Lots of excellent play equipment for children. Parking is limited, 50p per half hour on site. Nice cafe in view of play area. Interesting historic notice boards. Good view of cathedral and railway.
