Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Isle of Wight - Sandown

Doing the tourist bit around the Isle of Wight. We called into the animal sanctuary for a look around. It was around £15.50 for an adult ticket which was well worth it. The car park is paid parking but has a special rate for sanctuary visitors £3. It’s not a zoo but a sanctuary and everything is based around the animals welfare. We were lucky and , I believe, we saw everything. We had a toddler with us and he managed to see everything and had great fun in the playground. It’s not huge and can be blasted around in under an hour, but I suggest taking your time and make the most of the lovely surroundings. The on site restaurant is on the pricey side but the food was hot and tasty. I would recommend a visit as you can see all the animals are well looked after and everything goes into the upkeep of this lovely place.

It is a really lovely place to visit. All the animals are rescue animals, and they really have found a great home. There is a cafe, gift shop and a play area for kids. Outdoor seating beside the cafe. The wildflowers around the place are beautiful. It's well worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing place. All the animals here have been rescued from a situation. Despite what they went through the animals seem very content here. Their enclosures are a great size so they have plenty of room. The staff are fantastic, welcoming, friendly & very knowledgeable. This was the highlight of our trip to the I.O.W if your in the area visit you will not be disappointed.

While not massive, there is a lot to do and see here. It's worth mentioning that this is not a zoo, all the animals are rescues and the staff are clearly very passionate about looking after them. I would recommend going to the Lemur talk where you get to go inside the enclosure. Special mention for Alan who gave the talk. He was very informative and we bumped into him at the meerkat enclosure where he happily chatted away with us for ages about them. Couldn't recommend any more!

Lovely Animal Sanctuary on the coast just a little way outside Sandown. We were staying at Shanklin and caught the bus to Sandown then walked down to the Sanctuary.
A very welcoming place with a lovely little cafe offering light refreshments. The Sanctuary has a good variety of well looked after animals. The staff were around and very helpful with any questions we had for them. The lions were fabulous, magnificent creatures, they all had their own stories of how they got to the Sanctuary, which the staff were very knowledgeable about.

2 families had a great day out. There were enough, dispersed activities to keep kids interested throughout. The mud kitchen was a particular hit! Above all, the animals were fantastic, and the programme of talks and feedings was well balanced throughout the day, so there was always something going on. We were blessed with the weather, but compared to other similar attractions well worth the money, and your money is going to a worthwhile cause.

Me and my partner had booked the tiger feeding experience.
What can I say but "WOW!" the experience was just absolutely brilliant!

Our keeper for the experience was amazing super helpful and very knowledgeable.
As we walked round to feed the tigers we were told about some of the history of the sanctuary and the animals.

Feeding the tigers was an amazing experience definitely a memory that will stay with us forever, and we also learnt about the history of them, after we went to the cafe there, the staff where super friendly and made to feel warm and welcome.

We then spent a good 2 to 3 hours at the sanctuary walking around looking at the animals.

Over all we would definitely recommend!
The feeding experience is a must and visiting the sanctuary too.

We even got a certificate sent to us after which I really loved.

We would definitely come back again.

Charming Zoo that puts the Animals first ?

We visited Wildheart Animal Sanctuary for its Summer Twilight Safari and we incredibly moved by the love and care this zoo evidently has for all of its animals in its care. Keepers were incredibly knowledgeable and insightful about all of the animals and spoke about each animal with a tremendous sense of warmth and kindness. ?

Whilst not the biggest Zoo, Wildheart gives visitors the chance to get up and close with rescued animals that were all incredibly energetic and full of life. Exhibits were all carefully planned out and the park was immaculately clean. Park admission was very reasonably priced with plenty of activities for families to keep children entertained.

We loved our trip to Wildheart and cannot wait to return! ?
