Had a wonderful overnight stay at The Willoughby Arms. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and our room was large and equipped with complimentary toiletries which was a considerate touch.||There is free parking on site and a separate breakfast room. Our dinner was delicious and the breakfast was decent, however both menus were somewhat limited which is only to be expected. Some parts appear a little run-down but that could be easily fixed. The location is relatively isolated and the pub tends to be quiet, with only my family appearing to eat there on the evening. ||Overall, I had a very nice stay due to the welcoming nature of the staff and the brilliant food served here - truly a hidden gem!

Found via Booking.com, ||We had a great overnight stay at The Willoughby Arms. ||The staff are friendly and, our room although basic, was clean, and as a nice touch had complimentary toiletries.||||There is free parking on site. ||We decided to dine on site for the evening. We were the only diners but this did not detract from the service and food we received. ||The food was really good, the Chef obviously took great care in what he served and all was good. ||We all asked for fries with our main course and when the mains arrived the fries were missing, the waitress assured use they were on there way, ||Duly the fries arrived quickly after....in an oven proof serving dish.... probably holding over a pound of chips!!! Needless to say we didn't finish them. ||The bar serves a good selection of Ales which were decently priced and of good quality..I did manage 8 pints for the day which is good for me..... ||Breakfast is served in a separate room. It is on an cook to order basis, whilst tasty it is basic. ||All in All I would recommend a visit, it is off the track a little but if you like a 'Proper Pub' you cant do wrong here.

My partner and I stayed here last night due to finally having a child free weekend after the recent Covid 19 restrictions etc so we decided to have an evening away and a day together somewhere.||||We arrived and were greeted very nicely by both staff and other customers ( clearly regulars ) and we immediately felt at ease. Such a friendly and welcoming place and the setting was pretty much the nicest I’ve seen for a pub in a long time. ||||Food was cheap and so were the drinks but also of a very high quality too!!||||We stayed in the building next to to main pub and with the addition of the fan - which the barmaid kindly loaned us - we had a great night!! ||||We are already planning a return in a few weeks time...||||PERFECT

Traditional country pub with a great selection of real ales and friendly locals!
The rooms to the rear of the pub were very well appointed and the views were superb.
We only had breakfast, which was served fresh and plentiful, and the food served at the bar in the evening looked very good indeed - need to try that next time.
Definitely a place to stop again when we are in the area.

Nice stop off after a dog walk. Good selection of drinks. Lovely setting, dog friendly. Reasonable prices. Nothing too much trouble eg filling dog bowl with fresh water. Relaxing and enjoyable. Food looks nice for traditional pub grub.

Good Pub - open all the time and early doors food from Six. We take the blended family here a lot and it’s good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Kids love the sausage and mash and grown ups like the Hopshackle and the Sauv Blanc. Great views in the summer.

There is much positive to say about this old style English pub with rooms. The staff (The on site owner was away) were very accommodating and friendly. The menu is limited and supplemented by a specials board. We were a family party staying in the area for a funeral and on our first night of two we had a party of 11 for dinner. The food was adequate the plates hot and the main part of the dish very good, it was however let down by very poor vegetables and average chips. The deserts were fine and the coffee very good. The prices do reflect an ordinary pub grub cuisine. I have paid a lot more for far worse food the portions were generous and my steak & kidney pie was actually superb. The bar was half closed as a leaky flat roof had caused flooding. There is a fair choice of very good ales and the locals were friendly and chatty. The serving staff were very efficient. All three generations complained about the beds in their rooms, they are old hard and the springs can be felt in thin cheap worn out mattresses. The stair carpet was old and badly stained. The bathroom in our room had peeling wallpaper and a shower unit that was faulty I could not get a cold shower as the regulator was stuck and at the lowest setting the water was too hot to shower under. The whole place is in need of some TLC and an injection of cash to update the tired rooms. The breakfast although limited was probably amongst the best we have had anywhere all being freshly cooked and with local top quality produce. It would not take much to make this a comfortable little place to stay. The prices are not high and if we had managed to sleep it would have been really great value. Signs of neglect can be spotted in most of the public areas. The rooms were all clean but tired and the bed linen appeared to have been washed in house rather than laundered.

The room we were given was very small and rather dated, clean but did have the most uncomfortable bed we have ever been given on our travels. TV was small but main issue was the bathroom was across the hall. The room was only large enough for a single bed in my opinion, the staff were great and food was wonderful. Would have liked to have seen the fabulous rooms given to other reviewers!
