We stayed in Allwynds as two families of four- and we were blown away by how perfect it was. Spotless throughout and plenty of room for us all. Hot tub was lovely too. Dressing gowns came on really handy and plenty of towels. Loved the welcome pack of milk, butter, bread, cake and Prosecco! We didn’t want to come home! Can’t wait for our next visit.

We stayed in one of the large accommodation- Levels View. We chose this place as we wanted space as a family, a hot tub and liked the fact there was a cafe and spa on site, |The lodge was very clean but some areas could be touched up - a few mould speckles on wall and washing machine draw wasn’t very clean, but other than that it was great. |The welcome pack of Prosecco, bread, butter and milk was lovely although we didn’t drink the milk as it was full fat. |The spa was lovely and staff very helpful. Had a wonderful facial and with the sun out I enjoyed the hammocks and out door hot tub. |We had breakfast and lunch too at the cafe which was very nice and prices average. |Our only small complaint overall was that the garden wasn’t 100% private. It was odd. (See photo) The garden area had fences on the side but not the back. There is a path that runs around the back of the 4 houses and some stairs in the middle (directly outside Levels View) lead up to a large grassy area which my son loved, but also so did the kids next door. So we would be sat in our hot tub and the next thing we know the kids next door will be running past our garden up the stairs or their ball would land in our garden. Luckily, the kids were fairly well behaved and weren’t a problem and we ended up getting our head round it but it wasn’t what we expected. |The last thing is be aware is that the kitchen is upstairs with all the bedrooms down and no direct door onto the garden area. Again it didn’t bother us, but we used to having a kitchen directly out onto the garden and hot tub when we go away. |Would we return, yes! But maybe they could consider a fence and gates along the back of the properties as especially the prices that they charge in the school holidays you’d expect a bit more privacy. |The last thing I will add, which is what we loved was how quiet it was with no street noise and just the sound of cows nearby!

We visit every year for an annual reunion trip, relishing the spa experience and the beautiful surrounding walks. It’s a low-key retreat that provides the much-needed respite we all crave, as well as a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends.

The on-site cafĂŠ and restaurant continue to impress, especially the fabulous Sunday lunch (be sure to book ahead). The spa is equally delightful, and this year I had the pleasure of a full-body massage with the wonderful Jess. Despite her petite stature, she delivered an incredibly firm and effective massage, alleviating much of the tension in my back.

The lodges are lovely and were refurbished a few years ago. However, this year they seemed to need a bit of TLC. Some long-standing suggestions we’ve made over the years have yet to be addressed, such as adding a full-length mirror in the hall and adjusting the extractor fan, which is set too low—causing all of us to bump our heads! Additionally, the kitchen could use a fresh coat of paint and some worktop re-oiling. The plumbing also needs attention, as water pooled in the showers and sinks, emitting an unpleasant odor from the main kitchen sink.

Lastly, while check-out is at 10 a.m., the hot tub servicing began at 9:20 a.m., which was slightly intrusive—particularly when a staff member appeared right outside my window as I was getting ready!

Despite these minor frustrations, this remains a cherished getaway for us, and we look forward to returning. With a bit of maintenance and attention to detail, it could be truly exceptional.

Having stayed here before with friends and been very impressed my wife and I grabbed a Monday to Friday break in early January as a couple as it was great value and a chance to get away after a hectic Christmas. We stayed in the 2 berth sail loft which was the only lodge without a hot tub. We usually like a hot tub but happy to compromise as it was reflected in the price. This gave us the chance to explore a bit which we were pleased we did. As we experienced before, the whole process of checking in and managing our stay was flawless. We had a great time in a well appointed lodge. To cap it all I left some small belongs behind and after contacting the lodge they quickly located them and posted them back to me only asking for me to cover the cost of postage which I was more than happy to do. Every member of staff we encountered was welcoming and friendly. This place is an absolute gem.

Had a wonderful Monday - Friday break with my family. We stayed in Levels View which was spacious and immaculate. The little welcome hamper was such a lovely touch and the hot tub was a definite bonus - especially in the colder weather! We enjoyed a tasty lunch in the restaurant on site. Me + my mum also indulged in a much needed spa day with a massage. Facilities were amazing, we even braved the ice bucket!
Would definately recommend + we will be sure to book again! All the staff we spoke to on our stay were friendly + welcoming too.

Disappointing service for a retreat and spa that brands itself as luxury. Booked a last minute lodge for a New Years stay (Hoseasons cancelled our previous booking the night before travel) and therefore altered the booking to a lodge at the Windmill Retreat on the 29th for a stay commencing on the 30th December. Lodges are contemporary and are nice admittedly however are missing the extra mile touch. We didn’t receive the welcome pack with products (advertised on the website and inside the lodge). When we queried this we were told it was because we were a last minute booking and they couldn’t facilitate this due to this reason. We can appreciate this, but for a retreat that brands itself as 5* with previously winning diamond awards we did expect the small extra touches you get with a 5* retreat. After a discussion with the staff they then did say they could check what they had in stock but this seemed to be an effort - unsure why this wasn’t this their initial thought upon arrival to check stock. As stated, it is a nice property however for a £1000 stay for 4 nights we were expecting a higher standard of customer service and small personal touches that they advertise they provide.

We stayed in Millstone, a family of 8, from ages 12 to 70. |The resort is beautiful, small and very quiet, the staff at the spa were lovely, showed us to the house and gave us instructions on the hot tub. The levels kitchen again superb, they made my mum her 70th birthday cake, dairy and gluten free it was amazing. |The house itself is top quality, really spacious clean and has everything you need for your stay. We loved our time there, and would definitely return.

Everything we could have wanted and more. The most peaceful location and everything was thought of. The lodges were spotless and had everything you could need. The hot tubs while yes between 2 lodges, were covered by ferns leading up to it so you can’t see others in them from the road and the side of the lodge that faces hot tubs, the glass is frosted! You had total privacy. We did go for brunch at the on site restaurant which was amazing, it’s only open 11-4 though and does get busy! We had a massage too and it was incredible, slightly expensive but worth it. Big town isn’t far away by car and lots of amazing places to see locally. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again! Yes it’s expensive, but it’s worth it 100%.
