Sold by the pictures of an apparent lovely old building, however this is just a screen, as other than for the reception, once checked in your guided into a typically modern corporate building. |There was a nice cosy reception room off reception, with a bar (according to the label on the door), but this wasn’t open despite it being pre 7pm 🤷‍♂️.|The only bar was within the restaurant area, though there was a turfed garden adjacent which was nice to sit in soaking up the evening sun. The location within the expansive recreational grounds of the university did make for a lovely peaceful location.|We’d booked a superior room, which it was suggested may be in the old building, but wasn’t, was a good size, nice and clean, but was clearly a disabled room, with a wet room as its bathroom, but no bath? Superior room? Not convinced.|Breakfast in the morning was ok, a small buffet plus a menu to order from, however there was no bacon on the buffet 🤷‍♂️, never come across this in the UK. The service was lacking, you had to ask, no would you like or offer to top up.|Would I stay again? Yes, was satisfied at the cost, lovely location very peaceful, just a pity not more is made of the lovely old building they portray.

My daughter was married at Wivenhoe House recently. It was the most romantic setting we could have wished for. From our first visit, my daughter and her partner knew Wivenhoe House was the place they wanted to have their big day. Lisa and all the staff were so attentive nothing was too much trouble and everything happened just like magic. The food was amazing and I would highly reccomend their preferred suppliers who were all so professional, welcoming and so very very good at what they do. Our bedrooms were lovely comfortable with some great little touches. Can't wait to attend some of their events in the future.

What a beautiful venue. Absolutely gorgeous building with lovely, clean rooms. I attended a one night stay with my Mum for a Dolly Parton evening which was excellent. The function room felt very intimate and not too packed out which was nice. We enjoyed everything we ate and drank whilst listening to the tribute singer. The service was brilliant. Staff were attentive but not in your face. We had a fabulous time! Our room had everything we could need as well as a glass of fresh milk in the fridge and complimentary biscuits. My only criticism is that it took a few mishaps to be able to work the lovely coffee machine in the room so we definitely could have done with some instructions 😅

5 |From arrival to departure all dealings with the team was extremely pleasant they were all friendly and informative.| |The room was very impressive. To describe just a few words would be clean light spacious calming peaceful. The beds were comfortable. Coffee station easy to use and wide selection to drink. The balcony opens the room onto a tranquil greenery setting which totally relaxing. ( you would think you were close to town )||The bathroom is a dream. If one had a longer stay we could have taken time to enjoy a long relaxing bath in the tub that looked so inviting. The toilet and basin were clean and in good condition. The shower once set in the correct position was awesome good pressure. The best thing the shower walls were clean most places I have been to places always struggle to keep limescale or mould out of bathrooms.||The restaurant had a had a good menu. The food was tasty and of good quality. We tried the pineapple mango meringue for the dessert to be different and was amazed. Buffet breakfast had a wide selection of food available that you did not even have to look at the menu. I had the scrambled eggs which as light and fluffy. Orange juice was refreshing. ||Overall a really good time was had.

I visited Wivenhoe House Hotel restaurant with my mother for an afternoon tea to celebrate her 75th birthday.||The warm greeting at the hotel reception was only the start of a fantastic experience.||The restaurant staff were welcoming, polite, friendly and helpful. The table was decorated with confetti for the occasion and my mum was surprised with a slice of cake for her birthday! Every member of staff we encountered made sure they wished my mum a happy birthday and made an effort to make her feel special. There was even a card from the hotel wishing her a happy birthday too, all of which were nice touches.||The prossecco afternoon tea itself was very enjoyable. First of all, we were offered a glass of prossecco. We then went on to enjoy the selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes on offer, which tasted freshly made and very delicious! We were given a box to take the cakes we didn't manage to finish.||Inside, the restaurant is modern and clean and very well decorated. The toilet facilities were also very clean||We ended the afternoon with a relaxing walk in the grounds outside. We enjoyed sitting by the water, looking at the daffodils and relaxing. The hotel was a sight to behold on a wonderful backdrop of nature and the sunshine we were lucky to have on the day we visited. ||We both loved the whole experience and will definitely be back!

We got married here on the 31st of May. Our wedding was absolutely magical and we could not have asked for a better or more perfect day. Staff were friendly and attentive and the location was beautiful- our guests really enjoyed the gardens and flowers in bloom. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day possible. The Events team- Pheobe, Louise and Lisa were fantastic throughout and we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding coordinator than Pheobe. ||We had to change venues at the last minute and the whole process since changing to Wivenhoe House has felt effortless and a total joy. All of our messages were answered quickly and thoroughly with the opportunity to meet- as an anxious couple who were not treated well previously, this meant so much.||The bridal suite we stayed in the night of and the bride the night before was so luxurious with windows overlooking the grounds (it looked great in the getting ready photos) and was stunning as were the guest rooms where the groom stayed the night before, and every guest left with a smile on their face. The package offered now is fantastic- we got lots of compliments on the food and DJ/ entertainment. Our reception room especially looked so nice and the team really understood our theme- it truly looked more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.||We are so beyond grateful and lucky to have got the venue of our dreams and can't wait to visit again and for future Anniversaries.

A round a year ago my Fiancée and I booked to have our wedding at Wivenhoe house . |From the moment we arrived we knew this would be our venue to celebrate our marriage.|Lisa as the hotel wedding coordinator was absolutely first class .|Informing us at every stage and having regular meetings with her .||On the 29th of may the night before our wedding we stayed at the Hotel my wife in the bridal suite which I did see prior to the day .🤣|I also stayed in a superior balcony room which was amazing.||Our wedding day the 30th May 2025 |The whole event went amazingly well and my now wife and I are so happy to say how amazing our day was .👰‍♂️|The ceremony room was stunning . As my wife entered I was gobsmacked .|The whole venue was available for our guests to use and nothing too much trouble .||The garden suite for our celebration was immaculate and commented on by many of the guests.|The staff whom I’ll now mention made the whole event a very special few days .|Lionel., in the restaurant was our French Fred a great asset for this venue . I stayed here for a business event. The hotel in based on the university campus but not near any of the buildings so there is no noise, but it does mean there are shops and cafes in walking distance. The building and bedrooms were beautiful and the shower was perfect. I ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food was lovely and the staff welcoming
