We had a lovely 2 night stay at Woodland Barn. Paula is incredibly helpful and friendly and, due to covid-19, gave us a wonderful picnic breakfast hamper each morning that really set us up for the day. The rooms are lovely, very new, clean and comfortable with a huge bathroom and a very comfy bed and lines - we slept very well. My favourite thing about Woodland Barn however is the beautiful walk from the barn down into Durham city through meadow, woodland and fields. It was beautiful and a lovely start and end to each day. Would certainly stay here again if we are in the area gain. I can't imagine there is a better B&B for Durham city.

Woodland Barn is the perfect spot for a little break close to Durham. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable beds and nicely decorated. Wished we had been staying longer to have a soak in the big copper bath as well!||The location was perfect for us, a lovely rural setting with great views, but very close and accessible to Durham to visit the city. We are out at the Thai recommended in the welcome notes and it was delicious and close by.||The breakfast continental and cooked breakfast was also really good, Paula who runs the BnB made the granola herself, and even gave me the recipe for it.||Would highly recommend the Woodland Barn, Paula is a lovely host and we had a really nice weekend away. Will hopefully be back!

Tucked away on a Woodland Trust site yet only 3 miles from historic Durham, this is an absolute find. Absurdly spacious - my bathroom was the size of a bedroom, and has a monster, in a good way, copper bath (asses’ milk would have been entirely appropriate) and a huge bedroom... lovely little patio, with furniture outside. There is a brilliant little galley kitchen for guests’ use with a microwave, fridge (bring your own wine) and upstairs a socking great sitting room with fab wood burning stove, tele, sofas and sylvan views on all sides... I have never seen or been anywhere quite like it. Eclectic, elegant furnishings, and a superb breakfast, cooked as you wish... fruit salad with homemade granola, juices -of course - the cooked element as hefty as you wish or not - and the emphasis is very much on local produce. ||||Paula is a welcoming, gentle and helpful hostess... what an absolutely wonderful place.

I booked Woodlands Barn for a business trip & will be returning for pleasure as much as I can! As soon as I arrived I knew I wouldn’t want to leave. I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in a lot of great places but this really was something truly unique & special. Paula & Stuart were the best hosts & meeting them both really made my trip. If you’re looking for the wow factor & chic style nestled in the middle of the most glorious setting, this is the place for you. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Stayed for just one night dropping son back to Uni. Was a bit of a treat for us. Beautifully furnished and clean. Very comfortable bed. Kettle, coffee and tea and a fridge in the room. My husband had a super breakfast delivered to the door of our room (COVID rules). Paula, the hostess, gave us directions for stunning walks through the woods and into Durham. Just a shame we couldn't stay longer.

Stunning accommodation. Beautiful throughout. Everything thought off. Huge comfortable beds. Would recommend the walk into Durham down through the woods. Very peaceful surroundings wouldn't think you were so close to the road. Host communications were excellent. Lots of good information provided. Only fault..we didn't book for longer

Amazing place to stay, very spacious and modern accommodation; warm and cosy in winter, very quiet and restful at night.
Wonderful views of local woodland and countryside, yet only a few minutes drive from the centre of Durham.

I stayed with my kids during the weekend. Stuart and Paula have been very welcoming and went above and beyond expectations. The home and the location is uplifting and spot less. We definitely return .
