Visit here while staying at Crowtrees caravan site. Think opening hours need to be updated or maybe Facebook page. Walked down in the Saturday to find pub in darkness and locked up. Was in previous day and was told open from 12. Nice pub and good pint of guiness but very frustrating when you walk there to find it shut

Not the best I only had a quick pint as the reviews were not good. Can't see anything done to improve the place.

Called in today 9 June for Sunday Lunch on our way to Pipes In The Peaks Concert. Received a warm friendly welcome by the lady serving behind the bar. She was very helpfull and accommodating to enable us to have a table as we hadn't booked. We ordered one Traditional Roast Beef and one Gammon Sunday Lunch. Both were served hot, in a timely manner, with fresh carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, red cabbage, roast potatoes, stuffing and 2 home made Yorkshire puddings. Both meals were truly delicious and cooked to perfection and very generous in portion size. To follow we both had apple and rhubarb crumble and custard. This was on the recommendation of the pleasant young waiter who advised us that it had been made this morning. The meal was very reasonably priced.
If you want a hot, delicious, home cooked meal using fresh ingredients 'Ye Olde Crown' is the place to go to and you definately wont be disappointed.
Many Thanks to all the amazing staff for providing us with an outstanding experience.

Very average pub. Went for Saturday dinner, was busy but more full of teens and the atmosphere was OK but nothing great. Food was edible but my friend who had the chicken pie said it was awful.

I had the burger which was good at the time really, we also had ribs which were fine but the fries were not good and the onion rings were huge but mainly made of the skin of the onion which was weird.

Good place for a drink but wouldn't recommend for food unless you're really hungry and there's nothing else.

If you're looking for food involving truffle oil , towers of weird stuff or other chef-y nonsense you're probably best going up the road to another place . On the other hand , if you're looking for the best Sunday roast dinner you can get , at a hard - to - believe price , with hot fresh vegetables cooked properly by people who know what they're doing , served by friendly staff ( no indifferent teenagers here ) and a great pint , then it's the Crown every time . As we say every time we go to this gem of a pub .

Go up
