Stayed two nights, excellent welcome, spectacular location, fantastic walks from the doorstep, all abilities, leisurely coastal paths or hiking into the hills. Hotel friendly with a great menu beautifully cooked. We had the Steak & Ale Pie and the Sea Bass absolutely delicious. Good wine selection too. Highly recommend.

A welcoming host. Large room, clean and comfortable. Good facilities in the room from a heater, fan, tea and coffee facilities. Shower over bath arrangement, perhaps some handrails for seniors would help. Breakfast good, excellent fruit salad, staff were really friendly, nothing too much trouble. We liked the private entrance to our room with no stairs. Some parking places but residents parking was full when we returned in the evening. We parked across the road.

Superbly located Hotel/Pub, clean comfortable room, (noisy shower) spectacular views to the fells and across the estuary. Ideally placed for many circular walks along the coast or up into the woodland. We walked to Carnforth and took the train back. Great grub, we enjoyed the real steak pie, a proper pie not a dish of stew with a slice of puff pastry, but a real slice of meaty steak and lush gravy good veg too. Seabass also delicious. Highly recommend

We booked a table for 10 adults 6 children and 2 dogs. We pre ordered food as requested. As soon as we arrived the service was fantastic. They even made sure the dogs were comfortable. We were seved out drinks and meals promptly. Everyone agreed the food was excellent and great value for money. I would definitely recommend dining here.

On the positive side the location of this ‘pub with rooms’ is great. The views from our window were lovely. Staff were also friendly and really accommodating. Dinner was very good and we had no complains.
The rooms however are a whole different story. We paid for a suite, a luxury suite, there was nothing luxurious about it I’m afraid, and it was not a suite, it was a big room!
False adverting in my opinion!
It was tired, desperately needing modernising, a paint job and a good clean. The bathroom was really not clean at all. Grime, which has been there for some time; no matter how tired a place looks, there is no excuse for dirt! The showers was very good though, so aside from that and the view it was a very disappointing stay. Bed was so soft that you felt every turn, movement throughout the night. Tiles in the bathroom needed re-grouting, bath seals needing redoing. Also paid £150 for the night, nowhere near worth that sort of money! Did include breakfast but tinned fruit made up the majority of fruit salad and tinned mushrooms with my mushrooms and eggs. 😢

We booked a table for 1900 and had Morecambe shrimps to start (1 between us) & then we both had fish and chips. The shrimp portion was meagre for the money (£10.95) with the tiniest piece of toast. A rip off.
The fish was mainly batter & a small portion. The chips were lovely but again not many of them. People came in at 1930 and were upset to be told they stopped serving food at 1915. We couldn't see anywhere on the website or on their blackboards that food stopped so early so I could understand why they were peeved. It happened several times too! This is a hotel!!! I think this is poor but not to advertise your serving times is terrible as there was nowhere else for people to go.

We've just returned from a brilliant 1 night stay.
Firstly, the staff are absolutely amazing, so friendly & welcoming & genuine. Great service!
The location is great, with a lovely view over the estuary
The decor is lovely & the public areas exceptionally clean
The room was very clean & comfortable. A little worn in places but to be expected, excellent value for money
Delicious food including the cooked breakfast which rounded our trip off nicely.

My daughter and I stayed here for 1 night when visiting friends in the local area. Reception were super friendly when we checked in and explained everything to us as well as showing us to our room. A member of bar staff ‘George’ tried to get a taxi for us to go to a party we were invited to but was unable to as there isn’t much provision in the area. We hadn’t eaten at that point and the restaurant had closed but between George and the head chef ‘Paul’, they made sure we didn’t go hungry. We were so grateful. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Excellent hot shower and my personal must, comfy pillows. Breakfast was delicious. We had a great night staying in despite not getting to the party we’d gone there for. A great business opportunity for anyone wanting to set up a taxi firm as there was very little provision. |We would definitely go back again.
