An absolutely banging pub to stop off at while on a walk. Friendly staff, great local beers and a well priced menu.

I had the pork belly and when it arrived i was absolutely as I wasn't expecting anything nearly as well presented. It was a great meal for the price.

I recently popped in here for lunch after walking up to Bamford Edge. We all ate from their main menu and I have to say all the meals were very good indeed. The portion size was good, the food was excellent quality and very tasty. The service was also very welcoming and polite. I would recommend here if you are looking for a nice, reasonably priced meal.

Recently been twice, once for a meal with my wife and secondly with biking friends for a snack and drinks.
The food was lovely both times. The first visit we sat inside which was nice, very tropical British pub feeling.
Second visit sat outside as it was busy and we had our bikes with us. It was lovely except for the extractor fan blowing kitchen fumes and smoke into the courtyard.

Top notch Inn. Great location, great building, nice outside seating areas, very nice dog friendly rooms with lots of little touches that make you feel they've really thought things out. Plenty of good food/beers/ales on offer, all served by very friendly staff. Breakfast is great.
Beautiful part of the country, too.
Very happy to have picked this place to stay.

Called here for lunch after our walk.
The pub was very busy and we were told that it would be a 45 minute wait for food. I think our food came a bit sooner than that. The staff were friendly, the pub was oldie worldly. We all ate something different. The fish and chips and lasagna were beautiful but I had the roast and for £18 I have to admit I don’t think it was worth it. The meat was very fatty and the vegetables were very hard. My own preference but I like birds eye peas and these peas had no flavour at all. My meal was very disappointing.
The pub was also dog friendly.

Stayed in nearby Hope and Castleton often before, first time @ Bamford. Well placed for local walks and drives. Room rate very reasonable to include a holiday Monday. Room a little small but OK. Bedding relatively new, decent quality and very comfy, though towels a little small. Oversized duvet was welcome, as they don't have this elsewhere. Shower stall small, but hot water on demand all day.|Breakfast options very wide; food excellent, well-cooked and presented, and plenty of it, hardly any waiting time. Everywhere very clean and tidy. Inn serves strong coffee, much better than at other places. Staff efficient, friendly and suitably chatty to create a family atmosphere. Dinner also very good, inn used by staying guests, drive-ups and walk-ins, and can get very busy. Booking ahead is best. Some parking onsite and down the street, but not enough on days with good weather. Lots of walking guides, and guidebooks for the area, plus free bottled water for guests, available in the hotel. Cosy nook for reading up on all of this. No problem recommending this to family & friends, I thought it was great.

Stopped here for food with my wife, unfortunately was pretty mediocre.
I had the dam burger which had a bun which seemed to crumble and fall apart very easily. The beef itself was a generous portion but dry. Chips were good (fries)

Wife had fish and chips which was again quite a generous portion which is great but she wasn't a fan of the fish and the chips (proper chips) were overcooked and greasy.

Strangely we had to get out our cutlery instead of it being brought over to us which was just a bit odd but maybe was due to it being quite busy, not the end of the world.

Bar staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Place itself looks great.

Might have just been an off day for food, who knows. I'd give it another go but food just wasn't great this time, shame as we'd specifically come over from Manchester as we'd heard good things.
Ah well, maybe better next time.
